"Long Time Gone", from a European TV show.
Further proof that Tom Jones is a great singer and infinitely adaptable. At the time he would have been regarded as Joe Straight with a bunch of hippies.

Will the belted pullover ever make a comeback?
It's quite a look.
Exactly right
He was Joe Straight trying to get down with the kids. We used to laugh at him.
I remember watching his TV show go to air the first time around in 1969. He would do most of the show in his Vegas monkey suit, then when the cool guests came on Tom would put on jeans and a tasselled jacket and duet with them.
His voice is a thing of wonder right enough, but there is no variation or subtlety in his vocal range. He's either straining hard enough to burst a bollock or he's not singing at all.

with their flimsy harmonies and forgettable songs, whereas Tom is a great blues, soul and rock n roll singer. He shows immense power during faster numbers and heartbreaking emotion during the slower ones.
