To all the Ukulelists out there...
The other week at Glastonbury, just before Neil Diamond, I realised that the one thing that I really, really needed to buy for the boy and myself was a ukulele each. Be advised that drink had been taken.
Anyway I did. By lucky hap managed to avoid the temptation to buy a drum as well.
Now, having got the thing home, and got both Glastonbury and Cornbury out of the way, I thought I'd better start trying to do something with the thing.
Now I know that there are reams and reams of lern yerself uke sites on t'internet, along with loads of uke tab sites - but which ones are the best? Where do I start?
TIA chaps

Beware, Its adictive!!
Hi Paul. Are you London based per chance? There's a great little set up going just off of Tottenham Court Road called "Ukulele Wednesdays". Its free to attend and they get around 30 to 40 people turn up on a wednesday evening of all abilities just to strum along. I've been a few times myself. Great fun.
If not then there is a wealth of internet support available.
Here are a few links

and this video is great no matter what you think of the ukulele. He's playing a slightly bigger Uke than you have probably brought but its inspirational stuff.
I'd also recommend some tutorial dvd's by a chap called Ralph Shaw.
Enjoy!
Martin
Thanks Martin
Based oop north, so sessions off TCR not an option I'm afraid. But thanks for the links - just got the little beggar properly tuned (and re-tuned, and re-tuned...) and happily knocking a few chords out.
Top fun!
Not sure the GLW agrees - just disappeared off upstairs with iPod...
This lot
apart from being a magnificent live band, have a whole load of useful link on their website, for ukulelists and would-be ukulelists:

For learning to play, this one looks pretty good:

And if you want to push the boat out and buy something spiffy, like an electric uke, this is the place to browse:
