Time for a trippy psychedelic moment - what's your favourite?
Posted by Mousey on 1 September 2010 - 9:49am.
It's the first day of spring here in Bondi - but the fragrance in the air is competing with a hung parliament, and overseas cricket scandals are spoiling the happy vibe of an upcoming Ashes series.
So it's time for a druggy out-of-it moment before we get back to life, back to reality - here's one of my favourites
What's yours??

Same
sort of day here in NZ. Blossom is out. Bees in the air.
In the spirit of trans-Tasmanian brotherly love I'll go for this...
Oh goodness me.....
.....my favourite band. Thank you.
Itchycoo
Park
Too many to mention....
...but I'm quite partial to this more often than not.
It's cold and miserable
on the West Coast. But here's Donovan to brighten things up. None more trippy!
The House of Many Windows
This is one of my favourite obscure psyche numbers, by Bobak, Jones & Malone. Great keyboard work.
that was lovely
thanks Richie
It's good to share...
;-)
So here's another:-Procol Harum Shine on Brightly.
Vacuum Cleaner
So many to choose from! Love this by the Tintern Abbey. Loopy bass, gorgeous mindbending guitar solo zooming in halfway through and classic Brit-psych drums.
Will this do?
Two suggestions
Two bits of original 1960s footage
Sitars, trippy lyrics? A classic bit of ISB footage - The Iron Stone:
Also a bit of my favourite wistfulness from the Floyd (Paint Box courtesy of Rick Wright):
It would be
Lemon Princess by the Leaves!
Any song that begins "I'm the devil, says he..." and tells the story of a girl posessed ? having a nervous breakdown ? bad trip ? turning into a lemon tree, is alright by me.
Psychedelia for the masses
This...
from the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, apparently.
Aah, they were innocent times.
I'm Gonna Find A Cave
In which Snorky seems to be in the middle of a trip, as his band mates turn into multiple copies of each other.
Some bad acid going around when they made that show...
The Olivia Tremor Control
Some '90s psychedelia: Green Typewriters, part 1:
none more groovy
the Pidgeon Toed Orange Peel
***WARNING***
contains flashing images and ladies sans pants
The End
"I'm upside down, my world is going round and round..."
Race Marbles - Like A Dribbling Fram
'There should be no bass players, just harmonica players'
3 more (obligatory HJH included)...
The end sequence of Zabriskie Point, soundtracked by Pink Floyd
I'd have gone for
Summer 68 or Fat Old Sun
An excuse to
post another song from The Corals new album "Butterfly House"
Over to Marvin
Marvin Gaye may not have been taking the same drugs as the people making most of the music we term psychedelic, but the effect is pretty darn trippy on A Funky Space Reincarnation.
At the moment it's
Skylarking by XTC, particularly the opening 3 songs.

Does this count?
Llamas!
East of Eden "Snafu"
Psychedelic trio
The Golden Dawn - Texan labelmates of the mighty 13th Floor Elevators
The Chocolate Watchband - a long-time favourite. Like the Stones if they'd gone properly psych.
Linda Perhacs - Parallelograms
Psychedelic Bo Diddley
Nice Dog, yes, lovely form, lovely buttocks
One of my favourite Who songs
Oh bugger, watch it on You Tube, Dogs - The Who
surely this is a trippier Byrds track
i'm a bit spaced, can someone put all these tracks on a spotify playlist for me
Probably
the definitive UK psych record.
Tomorrow with My White Bicycle
That's Steve Howe on guitar.
None more backwards!
Tripping on Stones
2000 Light Years From Home
Nice thread...
Black Angels "Grease"
Ananda Shankar "Dancing Drums"
13th Floor Elevators "Slip Inside This House"
The Warlocks "Baby Blue"
Some more faves...
Brian Jonestown Massacre "Golden Frost"
The Pretty Things "LSD"
Kim Fowley "The Trip"
Teddy And His Patches
Thanks to DJ Shadow
For bringing this to my attention
Arthur and his fiery crown
The Incredible String Band - Gently Tender
