Time for a trippy psychedelic moment - what's your favourite?

Mousey's picture

It's the first day of spring here in Bondi - but the fragrance in the air is competing with a hung parliament, and overseas cricket scandals are spoiling the happy vibe of an upcoming Ashes series.

So it's time for a druggy out-of-it moment before we get back to life, back to reality - here's one of my favourites

What's yours??

Same

sort of day here in NZ. Blossom is out. Bees in the air.
In the spirit of trans-Tasmanian brotherly love I'll go for this...

Too many to mention....

...but I'm quite partial to this more often than not.

It's cold and miserable

on the West Coast. But here's Donovan to brighten things up. None more trippy!

The House of Many Windows

This is one of my favourite obscure psyche numbers, by Bobak, Jones & Malone. Great keyboard work.

Vacuum Cleaner

So many to choose from! Love this by the Tintern Abbey. Loopy bass, gorgeous mindbending guitar solo zooming in halfway through and classic Brit-psych drums.

Will this do?

0
keefus | 1 September 2010 - 12:27pm

Two suggestions

Two bits of original 1960s footage

Sitars, trippy lyrics? A classic bit of ISB footage - The Iron Stone:

Also a bit of my favourite wistfulness from the Floyd (Paint Box courtesy of Rick Wright):

It would be

Lemon Princess by the Leaves!
Any song that begins "I'm the devil, says he..." and tells the story of a girl posessed ? having a nervous breakdown ? bad trip ? turning into a lemon tree, is alright by me.

I'm Gonna Find A Cave

In which Snorky seems to be in the middle of a trip, as his band mates turn into multiple copies of each other.

Some bad acid going around when they made that show...

Over to Marvin

Marvin Gaye may not have been taking the same drugs as the people making most of the music we term psychedelic, but the effect is pretty darn trippy on A Funky Space Reincarnation.

At the moment it's

Skylarking by XTC, particularly the opening 3 songs.
