And they say

white people have no rhythm...

'Ladies ...please ...

... an orderly queue!'

1
Steerpike | 18 February 2011 - 12:06pm

*happily forms orderly queue*

I've bought my sleeping bag and a thermos of tea, just in case it's a long wait.

2
Hannah | 18 February 2011 - 10:40pm

*joins queue*

I've got some biscuits that'll go nicely with that tea, if you want to share...

2
Gauntlet | 18 February 2011 - 10:53pm

Course I'll share.

What biscuits are they? If they're M&S Dutch Shortcakes, you can actually have all the tea and my sleeping bag. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Hannah | 18 February 2011 - 11:01pm

But

he doesn't smile like those dancers in other pop videos and awards ceremony shows do.

0
Paul Bernays | 18 February 2011 - 12:24pm

The Childcatcher

He is!!

A little bit Max Wall and Steptoe too...

0
SimonL | 18 February 2011 - 12:52pm

Sir Mix-A-Lot/Thom Yorke

Not much difference there.....

0
Six Dog | 18 February 2011 - 12:59pm

Thom Yorke

is 42.

0
Joe Robert | 18 February 2011 - 1:43pm

Funny, unsettling, compelling,daft

Fantastic

0
Cobweb Steve | 18 February 2011 - 1:50pm

That is completely fantastic.

So what if he's 42? I love that a man who used to be so po-faced, so apparently desperate to inhabit the "serious rock" cliché, should now be obviously having so much fun.

That's a bloody lovely tune too.

Fanboy out.

1
Bob | 18 February 2011 - 1:55pm

Totally.

It was a bit of a cheap shot, really.

0
Joe Robert | 18 February 2011 - 1:57pm

I love the song. And

I love the song. And watching him twitch all over a stark backdrop is oddly compelling. Such a nice change of pace compared to the parade of prepackaged, highly choreographed kiddies who dominate the charts.

He definitely has a face for radio, though, doesn't he? I had a few moments watching Yorke when the camera moved in close where I thought of that scene from the old Dustin Hoffman movie, Tootsie, where the director calls for a closeup of Hoffman in drag, and everyone shouts, "Not too close!!"

Gorgeous voice, though.

0
Lott | 18 February 2011 - 2:35pm

Maybe he's

just found a way to make himself Fitter Happier.

Ahh_Bisto | 18 February 2011 - 2:39pm

If nobody else has donwloaded this yet

can I be the first to say what a damn fine album this is. Currently half way through and enjoying it far more than In Rainbows. And how nice is it that a band can still take us by surprise and release an album with very little warning and then bring it forward an extra day - some excitement in music.

0
ian s | 18 February 2011 - 2:55pm

Sounds great

I think the old boys in Underworld do a similar dance

0
tim tunes | 18 February 2011 - 3:18pm

Is it a response to Bradford

Is it a response to Bradford & Bingley's role in the banking crisis, conveyed through interpretive dance?

5
SteelyDanPrice | 18 February 2011 - 3:42pm

I thought you meant a response to this Bradford at first ....

... now that would be interesting

0
Johnny Topaz | 18 February 2011 - 10:47pm

Why am I reminded of this..?

2
nebraska1982 | 18 February 2011 - 3:43pm

One of the strangest things I've ever seen on telly ...

... the backwards speaking person of limited height. Get David Lynch on the Eastenders scripts

0
Johnny Topaz | 18 February 2011 - 10:53pm

At first

I thought a bit of Lovely Ludvig Van, milk-plus fuelled ultraviolence was in the offing

0
Steerpike | 18 February 2011 - 4:59pm

Excellent!

Er, that's all. Just excellent.

0
Specs_Beard | 18 February 2011 - 10:28pm

How fantastic...

I would be one of the ladies in the orderly queue, no messing. It's great to see him getting his freak on, looking well fit at 42.
The music's as ball-bouncingly ace as ever, too.

0
andielou | 18 February 2011 - 10:48pm

Hey!

I was here first, no pushing in line. ;-)

You're very welcome to share my thermos of tea, BTW.

0
Hannah | 18 February 2011 - 10:52pm

Lovely, hope there's no sugar in it.

I think his hair looks dreeeaaamy in this longer style too, don't you? My god, those pants couldn't BE any tighter could they? Marvellous.

0
andielou | 18 February 2011 - 11:06pm

Nope, no sugar.

Oh yes, I very much approve the longer hair. (and the pants)

*sighs happily*

0
Hannah | 18 February 2011 - 11:15pm

Me...

like.

0
Patrick Crowther | 18 February 2011 - 11:46pm

Me Hannah.

You Patrick.

EDIT: PS Patrick, thought you might enjoy this intriguing photography project : http://irinawerning.com/back-to-the-fut/back-to-the-future/

(Apols for mild threadjack but I'm not sure how else to contact Mr C, my trained carrier pigeons are poorly)

0
Hannah | 19 February 2011 - 12:48am

I am one who delights..

in all manner and manifestation of the terpsichorean muse...but that was a sad student dancing on his own at a party (maybe that was the effect he was after?)

shane pacey | 19 February 2011 - 12:19am
drakeygirl | 19 February 2011 - 12:53pm

brilliant!

it fits!

0
Vorgongod | 19 February 2011 - 1:18pm

Love it!

It's The Evolution of Bad Dancing. Amongst other I spotted Cocker(Joe and Jarvis), Gillespie (star jumps) and Right Said Fred.

0
fedoraboy | 19 February 2011 - 1:58pm

I think it's brilliant

but is anyone else thinking 'Jay Kay'?

0
Nick | 20 February 2011 - 4:43am

I wasn't aware

that Thom had been secretly filming my own collection of moves to help him choreograph that piece.

I trust the ladies above who are expressing admiration for Mr Y won't mind if we chaps over attempt a similar stylee whilst trying to woo them on the dance floor in future?

1
Grant | 20 February 2011 - 8:30am

I'm....

...re-training my left eye as we speak. As well as halving my weight and height.

1
Bob | 20 February 2011 - 12:45pm

Of course

there's always someone who goes too far and spoils it for everyone else

0
mojoworking | 22 February 2011 - 3:58am

Trouble with this is..

It's not as arse-clenchingly funny as the original.

0
shane pacey | 22 February 2011 - 1:06pm

A bit of background

The video clip was filmed at the Hospital Club in Covent Garden. I met my wife there when it was a real hospital (St. Paul's) in the mid-70s.

It stopped being a real hospital in 1992.

mojoworking | 27 February 2011 - 1:34pm

Inspired by this fine example

of the terpsichorean art, I have purchased 'King Of Limbs' - and very good it sounds too.
