This works for me

Ralph's picture

Friday night music. Puts me in mind of the other Big O. I'm going to miss his Edinburgh show due to holidays but if you get the chance to go I guarantee that him and Sergio will entertain you

Enjoyed that but...

Haven't a clue who it was - Anyone?

Where to start

Singer songwriter, Nashville based. His songs have been covered by Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Steve Earle and Johnny Cash. He has at least 20 albums out. Probably his best known song is Deeper Well covered by Emmylou on her Wrecking Ball album. Difficult to pigeon hole him he does everything from heartbreak to humour. In concert I've seen him do a fine recitation of Coleridge's Kubla Khan. Sergio is just a masterful guitar player who accompanies him on his European tours, not enough people turn out here to make it viable to tour with a band.

Here's another of his songs, Emmylou Harris has covered this one too

He's got six UK dates coming up in September all in small venues

Cheers

That's the good thing about this forum, another 'new to me' artist to explore! Can't believe he's passed me by as I love this kind of stuff.

David Olney and Sergio Webb

He is about to start a UK tour with Sergio Webb on guitar. Highly recommended. The Herald reviewd last Edinburgh gig as follows: "David Olney doesn’t tour over here with a band. He doesn’t have to. Between his own sturdy rhythm-and-riffs guitar playing and his trusty sidekick, Mark ‘Sergio’ Webb’s extraordinary range of accompaniments, Nashville-based Olney gives a performance that borders at times on the orchestral. In fact, it’s a kind of travelling music theatre show."
Well worth checking out
