This is NOT A Love Song (New Issue Spoiler Alert!)
Posted by Stuart Graham on 10 August 2009 - 11:13am.
With regard to the Best / Worst love songs in this month's issue I would argue that Angels by Robbie ain't a love song .....but what do i know?
I DO know, however, that "There She Goes My Beautiful World" by Saint Nicholas is DEFINITELY not a song about smooching.
It is an ode to Inspiration and the fear of it departing -
"Me, I'm lying here, with nothing in my ears"
Tremendous Song though peeps.

It's also...
... the only musical reference to Philip Larkin extant.
ooh... but what about this?
It may (or may not) be a love song to the bald bard of Hull, but it is indeed another songly mention of the man himself by Kimberley Rew - former Soft Boy and successful UK Eurovision songwriter - entitled (cunningly) "Philip Larkin".
View on that Youtube thingy -
I hope this spurs an explosion of songs about poets. There are sons about Plath and Donne, Andrew Motion anyone?
But are love and inspiration not the same thing, or at least
very closely related? Regarding 'Angels', it's a song about love rather than a song to a loved one, we'd say, so it qualifies. But Best/Worst is always pretty loose around the edges.

Yes.
Love is Blue
You know, if someone trendier than Andy Williams had covered this, I bet it would have made the list...
I'm surpised this never got a mention.
