Things We've Never Seen
Marcus Brigstocke’s new 6-part comedy series. “I’ve Never Seen Star Wars” begins this Thursday on Radio 4.
It made me think of things that I should have seen and heard but so far, in my humble existence, have failed to do so.
For instance, I have never watched an episode of “Friends” or “The West Wing” and “Wire” is still on the agenda at some point when
time allows. I did start watching the very first episode of the latter, but never got any further and returned the DVD to a hire company before going on holiday. To be honest, I wasn't in the right frame of mind and found the first episode hard going. Does it get easier?
Also, allthough I know I should, I’ve never go round to listening to any Nick Dave or Captain Beefheart albums either. This is
not a good thing, is it, or is it?

I've never listened to "Nick Dave" either
But....there is always time!
Nick Dave...
forgoes murder ballads in favour of songs about lager, football and birds.
Nick Rave!
Still hungover from festival yesterday, sorry Nick Cave!
I've never seen...
...Friends, mainly because I was put off by that awful, weedy theme song. And to think, I've been one of those who's been telling fellow readers to get over their dislike of the cover star in any given month and just read the bloody magazine...
Mind the (Culture) gap
Never seen "Citizen Kane" or "The Third Man"; one of these days though...
Long list abridged
Clearly, I have no life.
ach i'm sure you can happily live without most of those
although you *are* missing out on a treat if it's a life sans Buffy
Nick
Do you mean Nick Cave or Nick Dave?! I've never heard a Thompson album either although just downloaded his version of Tim Finn's Persuasion. His son Teddy sings on. its lovely.
didn't Richard T
guest on the Tim Finn album that spawned 'Persuasion'?
I think all of this was around the time of the Finn/Froom/Thompson love-in on Capitol in the early 90's right?
I somehow
have never to my knowledge in my 43 years heard a Grateful Dead song.
Never seen Casino, Taxi Driver, Green Mile, Forrest Gump.
Never seen the West Wing.
But I have seen Arrested Development. And its a classic.
Grateful Dead
This'll do.
Forrest Gump is excrement. You should see Taxi Driver though.
Cheers Lucas
But an I missing something? Sounds like a Gram Parsons/Country Byrds track. Ok, but... not something of legend!
I'd buy an album but nobody has ever given me a place to start. For instance, what's a definitive "Dead Album"?
"OK, but"...
...is exactly my point with The Grateful Dead. And that applies to their best material.
Sorry mate
Got it!
I have never
listened to a Pink Floyd album all the way through
watched ET all the way through
read a Dickens novel
laughed at an Adam Sandler film.
Until just now....
...I'd never heard an AC/DC record.
Do you mean a whole album ?
Surely you have heard "Whole Lotta Rosie", "Back in Black", "You Shook Me All Night Long" which at one stage were "as big as Kylie"
I may have heard them...
...but I've never listened to them. Hence I wouldn't recognise any of the actual records. However I could probably identify them from the screechy vocals by the bloke who looks like Andy Capp.
Star Wars
I've seen each of the Star Wars movies at the cinema, apart from what I'm told is the best one, The Empire Strikes Back, which I've never seen at all.
The trilogy makes alot of sense then Fraser.
On the other hand at least you knew Luke survived along with Han and the Princess.
The Empire Strikes Back...
...is indeed the best one. But it's not the dark masterpiece that certain fans might try and suggest.
