The Darkness-Seems like a good idea

Sounds Like Take That.

Not sure if that's a bad thing or a good thing. Still, worse things have happened this week.

also with vague overtones of

Queen and ELO.

You know what? I love it!

And forgot that I did when it turned up on One Way Ticket..., which got a rather undeserved shoeing, I thought.

Yes!

This has made my day and the ceiling I'm painting appear less daunting. The power of the Word Blog knows no bounds I only asked for this to happen in September and here we are 6 months later request granted. http://www.wordmagazine.co.uk/content/post-your-pictures-people-who-make...

This news has added a little sunshine

to an otherwise jet lagged and jaded day.

Have another one at you

You can tell it's produced by Roy Thomas Baker.

The Darkness - Dinner Lady Arms

A welcome return I think.....

A band that seemed to make a point of not taking themselves seriously made the mistake of taking themselves seriously.

Not really fussed but:
They had good songs and I thought they ended stupidly and too soon.

Wow...

I really didn't see that coming.

Love It

Especially the strings, more strings in pop I say

Oh no....

...that means no more Hot Leg or Stone Gods music! Two bands who really set the rock world afire!

I think they know which side their bread is buttered.

One of the most shamefully transparent reunions ever, given that they didn't have have a good word for each other after the split. Frankie even got a book out of how badly he was treated by Justin and his wife/manager in the end.

Sorry for the cynicism, I love their music - some all time classic songs - just feel this was so predictably inevitable. Hopefully will be better than the failed Eurovision entry!

Blimey

Surely I'm not the only one who can't stand them?!
(sorry)

you certainly are not alone

Can't say I ever took any notice of them myself. Were they that big?

Their Wikipedia page is full of trivia. And this:

".... bassist Frankie Poullain left the band via a window during recording of their second album, One Way Ticket to Hell... and Back...."

Er, "via a window"? Was their appeal becoming more selective by that time?

Noooooo

Oh for faks sake not again! Surely a band for people who need their humour spelt-out really simply. Are AC/DC too subtle for you? Is there not enough humour in Sparks, Morrissey's lyrics, Flavor Flav or Bez's stage personnas, without having to underline the ridiculousness of it all in a huge dayglo marker pen. Who ordered The Baron Knights of rock again, not me that's for sure.

Sigh.

I like The Darkness - or at least, I have their first album, and it's great. It's just fun, something which is conspicuously missing from far too much music.

I wish I'd known when I bought it that I was marking myself out as a pleb with an unsophisticated sense of humour, though. I might not have bothered.

Oh, and I'd do time for either of the Maels, incidentally.

Get used to it

I'm surprised William Hill are not offering odds on which band will reform during 2011. Well they still our money for betting on Christmas Day snow so why not.

The Barron Knights of rock? That will be the Barron Knights doing Pink Floyd.

WARNING: clip contains Simon Bates.

Excellent

The Darkness are purveyors of great pop/rock tunes packed with utterly boneheaded but irresistable riffs and a great line in unsubtle, slightly sexist lyrics.

What's not to like! Perhaps Justin will dust off the flying tits for the tour. Couldn't find a picture so here's the tiger instead.
