The youth of today

Gauntlet's picture

This is a band called Cherri Bomb, covering 'Volcano Girls' by Verucca Salt. Apparently they are 11 years old, and have been together 3 months. They are incredibly good.

top stuff

I always find the slight earnestness of young musicians have quite effecting the keen concentration of the learner musicians.

how much

My first 2 thoughts were a) is Gauntlet related to them and giving them a plug and b) their kit must of cost dad a fair penny - was it a re-mortage job.

Talented for 11 years old - liked the guitar solo !

Fair question

Not related to them - the video popped up on my tumblr dashboard, and after reblogging it, I thought it might be of interest here. I am currently weeping softly, as I think of how I squandered my time aged 11 instead of learning an instrument and forming a rock band. I could have been a contender...

a growing trend

Not sure if they are 11. Two of them look a bit "developed" to only be 11. Maybe they've just grown quickly.

But there does seem to be a trend of really young bands out there. May I also draw attention to Tiny Masters of Today and Smoosh. Like High School Musical / Camp Rock, but real.

Great stuff!

Eight Arms To Hold You is a fine album and the wee girls make a damn fine job of the cover. A simple tune done very well. Good rock isn't that complicated.
