Playing live - sending out emails ...
"Forget nostalgia, The Yardbirds have stayed true to their ethic of live experimentation and vicious energy. The Yardbirds paved the way for the Electric Prunes, Doors, Zeppelin, Sabbath, Joy Division, Sonic Youth, and Public Enemy. And they still know how to have a rave-up.”

They missed out...
Keith Harris and Orville and The Goombay Dance Band.
The Sisters Of Mercy
sorry, any excuse to keep their name alive in the minds of old farts
I'll leave quietly now
Bit of overclaim
but The Yardbirds were fantastic - and genuinely ground-breaking - especially in the Beck/Page model.
Can't say I knew much about them - other than "For Your Love"/appearance in Blow Up - but there was a really good article about them in another *cough* magazine recently.
Had a listen via Spotify and now they are my second favourite British band of the sixties.
Favourite? Need you ask?
Small Faces obviously
