The Word won't listen!

napaj's picture

Hi

My first entry and a rather boring one I'm afraid.

For the last few days I have been trying to contact Word as I have renewed my subscription and need to ask them something. But I'm just not getting any love back. Sent a few times to the official contact mail address and just not hearing anything back.

Is anyone there?

Which address did you use?

If it's a subs query, try jerry@developmenthell.co.uk and he'll advise.

I used the email address

I used the email address written on your comments / subscribe page.

I will send a mail to jerry@ in the next 5 minutes and hope to get a reply.

Thank you.

Comments / subscribe page.

Sorry, but which page do you mean?

That little linky at the top

That little linky at the top that says "Subscribe".

And it's nothing to do with postmen. It's to do with me renewing for 3 years, but my sub status not changing.

And..... I have not heard anything from Jerry.

Still nothing sadly.

The fact that I got a quick response here does not lessen the fact that I have been trying to contact them, after throwing 165 quid their way, for 4 or 5 days now and have been routinely ignored.

Apologies for that

Jerry hasn't been in the office today, but I'm sure he'll get back to you as soon as he's at his desk. As for the distribution folk, we'll take it up with them as soon as we can confirm which address you sent the mail to - there is no contact address on the page you mention.

The fact that "the

The fact that "the distribution folk" (whoever they are) see to subscriber stuff doesn't mean much to me I'm afraid - it simply reflects on the magazine. I have replied to your email just now. Thank you.

Thanks

for the swift response.

Is Jerry...

sitting on my missing Island box too, or should I moan elsewhere?

0
Archie Valparaiso | 8 October 2009 - 1:20pm

No

You can moan here. I'll alert Jerry.

You see

this is why I love The Word: You have a complaint or comment about your subscription and the publisher himself pops up, genuinely concerned, and willing to help.

Try the same thing on the What Car messageboard and see if Michael Heseltine logs in to help....

or even

on the sodding NME forum. Which is full of idiots. I only went on once. It was unruly to say the least. We at the Word remain loyal to the contributors. Unless they post something we disagree with. Say, for example, they favour one Dylan bootleg over another.

But that's what I love about this place. Heppo, Harrison, Lewry, Ellen, they all get involved, and we can discuss things human being to human being, rather than being told stuff, which is all other magazines do. The Word lets you make up your own mind. And that, in this day and age, is a thing of wonder in itself.

They're always there... they're watching

If you have no email love, I've never had a problem getting straight through on the phone lines. Also nice to hear a human voice happy to help me part with cash.

I'll shall email Jerry

about my missing copy of this months issue shortly. It is in The Sainsburys but not on my doormat. Arse biscuits.

Is there any point?

I suspect it's nothing to do with anyone in the Word organisation, but has everything to do with those sodding postmen who currently deliver to us at most twice a week.

0
Carl Parker | 8 October 2009 - 7:05pm

If it's the Post Office not delivering

then it's the Word organisation's fault for using them and therefore my fault for paying upfront for a subscription for a magazine that has not arrived. I do hope this is a no blame culture.

And by the way, a couple of my best friends are postmen. Lazy sods that smoke dope all day that also have a pain in the harris union rep and a low income.

Blame the government

It's always their fault

I have a sister

who is a postie.
But that doesn't have much bearing on the dispute, which as has been pointed out in the news, there is no agreement between management and unions what the dispute is about, so there doesn't seem to be much propsect of a resolution any time soon.

At what point..

Will Word be emailed to us every month in .pdf format to print off and staple together?
