The Word Podcast: An Appeal
Posted by Fraser Lewry on 23 July 2010 - 12:35pm.
Much like the BBC asking people to search their attics for missing episodes of Hancock or Top Of The Pops, I'm appealing for information regarding early editions of our podcast.
At iTunes, the earliest editions of the podcast I can find are the "One-two cast" from March 2007, and "Word Weekly Podcast 1" from a month later. Both are introduced with the words "welcome to the latest podcast", and Mr Hepworth confirms that there were indeed earlier, less frequent releases. But I can't find them.
Does anyone have copies of these? Or any further information?

Have got a dozen or more
Have got a dozen or more dating from 09/04/2006 on my Mac here Fraser. I can email you a screen grab with the titles if you want. Cheers.
Yes please
That would be really useful. fraser AT wordmagazine DOT co DOT uk.
Update
Thanks to grac I think I have a complete set of 'casts. Much respect to his careful archiving.
I presume that you'll
be popping them up onto the iTunes server doobiewotsit at some juncture, will you? I'm quite sure I missed the first few, it'd be nice to hear 'em. They were a monthly fixture at the start, no?
Well...
We'll be doing something with them. They were almost monthly, as far as I know - it was pre-me.
Anything to do with the new 'browse by' option?
So far it does nothing, but it's clearly some sort of audio search...
Whoops
That wasn't supposed to be there. Duly removed.
Presumably,
being prefraserous Word podcasts, these will be awash with speaker-busting guffaws from Mr. Ellen, and ghastly distorted peaks to the extent that listening to them while driving will be a life threatening experience?
I also have nothing before the 'One-two Cast', and hope profoundly that you'll issue them again in a plastic wrap-around sleevette with the words 'Deluxe Edition' printed on a semi-transparent band, the whole lot expertly remastered so that they sound as if they had been recorded in the Radio 4 studios rather than an MFI wardrobe.
I've got these old 17 episodes too *
It seems iTunes re-started the Word Podcast listing by the end of 2007, so in my list of anally-retained podcasts there are two "Word Podcast" headings, one eith stuff up to end 2007, and the other with everything since.
I don't even pretend to understand how that sort of thing can happen.
* Fraser, let me know if you've got less than 17.
