The Vaccines

What's it called?:
What did you expect from the Vaccines ?
What It Sounds Like:
I’m probably too old for this band, but I don’t care because it reminds me of the music I loved (and still love) from my youth. You’ll love this if you like power pop, C86, fuzz, backing vocals, feedback and ‘a wall of sound’. Think early Soup Dragons circa Hang Ten. The songs are about 21st century life – relationships (if you wanna come back, post break-up sex), growing up (wetsuit), and girls you fancy (a joyous ode to model Amanda Norgaard). They’re also really short – anything over 4 minutes feels like an anthem. Don’t expect complex lyrics - sample “she don’t wanna go steady, she’s only 17 so she’s probably not ready”. There is poignancy too. Tucked away as a hidden track at the end is ‘Somebody else’s child’, just piano and vocals about being brought up by someone who’s not your parent and being something of a disappointment to them.
What Does It All "Mean"?:
Probably not a lot really, just that good pop music does still exist. And that a 40+ woman can find herself singing about a 17 year old model without a care in the world !
Goes well with...:
The kind of don't give a damn dancing you do when no-one is around to watch. And probably a pint in an indie disco.
Might Suit People Who Like...:
Any of the above references, especially rock 'n' noll, 60s pop,(tuneful) punk, power pop and C86. And those who find the Word CD just a bit on the dull side.....(sorry Andrew Harrison)

Late onto this
I downloaded Wreckin' Bar a few months ago and loved that but was suspicious that an album might be Indie Landfill. But...saw them at Glastonbury on TV and bought their album. It is BRILLIANT! 'If You Wanna' is a stone cold classic.
I would add to your 'Sounds Like' and 'Might Suit' by saying The Ramones, Interpol, Arctic Monkeys (first two albums), The Strokes (first album), The Undertones.
Music to make my heart beat a little faster.
