The Spotify *Less Is More* Behemoth
Posted by billyous on 28 September 2009 - 4:08pm.
All the LIMs in one handy container (you know you wanted it (oh, and I was bored)).
Sorry, David.

I dont have Spotify
But if you're still bored...
Old - On Green Dolphin Street - Miles Davis
New - Random Acts of Senseless Violence - David Sylvian
Borrowed - Powderfinger - Cowboy Junkies
Blue - Dead Flag Blues - Godspeed You Black Emperor
Consider yourself added, M
Well, Miles and Cowboy junkies -- the other two aren't on Spotify.
You're a gentleman
and a scholar
What a fascinating list that makes for...
the variety that the four themes enforces makes it quite a rich gumbo!
Sorry billyous...
...but the length of that list is just audio fly tipping...
(I jest, of course, nice work...!)
Well I never
I'm now listening to Yes for the first time consciously. Not as bad as I expected but every time I start to like a bit, it bloody well changes. Are they all like that?
yes
Shit.
I rather liked it. Tell me America is the best thing they have ever done and nothing else is worth listening to.
I Love These Lists
And would like to make one myself. I've got Spotify, can listen to all the playlists, but, er, don't actually know how to make one. Do you just drag stuff from your itunes library or do you have to do it from within Spotify? And if so, how? The Massive were kind enough to help me with my Skype installation, so any kind soul out there care to do an idiot-proof guide to making your very own Spotify playlist? I thank you.
Lists
In spotify find the song and right hand click on the track. Select Save To and at the bottom is new playlist. The playlist will then appear on the left of the screen. You can rename it.
Once you have you playlist done, right click on the the playlist itself and select copy HTTP link. Paste that in your blog.
Expect to see a Smash Hits themed playlist shortly.
Thanks Lee
Bros and Brother Beyond playlist being compiled even as we speak.
Re: Yes
You'll have to wait until a real Yes fan turns up to offer genuine advice.
For me - like all prog - the problem is that just as you're enjoying a melody or a nifty riff - they are off on some endless moog-driven onanistic awfulness.
However, I do think Yes are a little better than most progular matter.
"Roundabout" and "Yours is No Disgrace" are not bad - but exemplify the syndrome outlined above
I got scared of Yes
after having to play the leader of a tooth decay gang attacking teeth in a huge mouth in a school production. I'm sure my character had a witty name but I have blanked it out.
We had to perform it to some Rick Wakeman music. It scared me for life.
Separated at birth
Listening to The Boss's fantastic Jungleland on this playlist, which I wasn't that familiar with before, I couldn't help noticing the opening piano sequence's striking similarity to the 'arpeggiated resonator guitar' intro (thanks Wiki) on Dire Straits' much later release Romeo & Juliet.
