The second Latitude podcast (or 'how was the dressed crab?') - featuring John Grant and Melvin Benn
Posted by David Hepworth on 18 July 2010 - 5:18pm.

In the second podcast direct from the Latitude site Kate Mossman talks to John Grant (left picture, middle) and Mark Ellen talks to promoter Melvin Benn (right picture, on left). Subjects covered include: the importance of putting your poetry tent in the right place, translating in a New York hospital, Christmas discos in August, presenting a birthday cake on stage and why you can take Tom Jones out of showbiz but you can never take showbiz out of Tom Jones.

Thanks for these
Podtastic effort on all fronts.
Great work.
Two very enjoyable podcasts. Is Mark the most enthusiastic person in the world?
Oh, and the hilarious Belle and Sebastian story at the end was like a modern day HORA, though with it not so much being hoary or old, I suppose it's more of a RA.
Surely the time has come
for the HORA to reform itself and start a reunion/comeback podcast tour?
Oh yes
a most bodacious brace of 'casts!
thanks to all the, eh... cast
A Claus In The Podcast
Both very interesting podcasts, help to break the day up during my walks at dinner. Is Mark Ellen playing Father Christmas again this year! Looks like the start of a new Santa beard, should be ready by December. Good effort.
Superb!
Great 'cast, one of the best of recent times. Word and Latitude seem like a fine match.
Both Latitude podcasts - excellent, thanks
1. I should've gone...
2. Geoff Lloyd seemed a great guy; should give AbsoluteRadio another go
3. Doesn't Mr Benn sound like John Inman?
an american learning russian from german
impressive
John Grant...
...is quite a chap, isn't he? I'd read a couple of print interviews with him in which he seemed a bit self-pitying and psychobabbly, but I suppose these things are all about tone. In the podcast, he just sounded refreshingly self-aware and humble - not to mention funny and interesting. Polyglots always impress me anyway, so polyglots who also happen to have made one of the finest albums I've heard in ages: double points.
I thoroughly enjoyed both the Latitude 'casts. Keep up the good work!
