The most irritating person on TV is...

Five-Centres's picture

Hardeep 'Hardeep Is Your Love' Singh Kohli. Not nearly as funny as he thinks he is. Trots out the same old 'jokes' time after time. Ruins The One Show. Talks over everyone he's on with. Get him off our screens.

If I knew how to post a picture I would.

There, got that off my chest.

Your wrong!

It is which ever pair of smug t***s happen to be sitting on the Breakfast Time sofa when I turn the TV on in the morning!

0
grac | 15 January 2009 - 6:00pm

Ever tried

not switching it on?

0
eddie g | 15 January 2009 - 7:45pm

erm, eddie, you did read the title of this thread didn't you?

If I didn't turn the TV on how could I have an opinion on who was the most annoying person on it?

0
grac | 15 January 2009 - 9:21pm

but, erm,

if you know they're going to annoy you, why bother watching them?

0
eddie g | 17 January 2009 - 4:35pm

Bill Turnbull

makes my blood boil- useless patronising smug supercilious git

0
MatDavies | 21 January 2009 - 6:14pm

Hardeep can never be

The most irritating person on TV as long as Nick Knowles is still appearing.

0
Thomas the Rhymer | 15 January 2009 - 6:10pm

And then

you've got to factor in Anne Robinson.

0
Nick White | 15 January 2009 - 6:14pm

He's not even

the most irritating person on The One Show - hello Gyles, Christine (the not so easy on the eye gardner one) and Dom.

0
Sven Garlic | 15 January 2009 - 6:43pm

You mean

Christine Walkden http://www.christinewalkden.com/

Gardener, Horticulturist, Lecturer, Trainer, Garden Centre Advisor, Tour Leader and Guide, Broadcaster, Writer and Photographer. And right clever dick...

She was fab with old Stipey. Can't find a clip though. Doh!

0
Beany | 15 January 2009 - 9:14pm

Dom irritates me

just cos he looks like The Hood off Thunderbirds n he was, like, well scary. I did see Nick Knowles crossing the road in Islington once and consider not braking.

My vote is for anyone whose ever been in Hollyoaks

0
DogFacedBoy | 15 January 2009 - 6:49pm

I assume

.. that we're excluding anyone who has ever presented Top Gear in the interests of opening up the debate?

0
Gatz | 15 January 2009 - 7:07pm

I'll see all of your nominations...

... and raise you with Justin Lee Collins. Hardeep Singh Kohli doesn't come close to him in terms of sheer annoyance.

However nothing can annoy me today as I now have a ticket to see Simon Amstell, officially the least annoying person on the telly, doing his stand up and it only cost £6. Selling tickets that cheap has put him even higher in my estimation than before...

0
ganglesprocket | 15 January 2009 - 7:09pm

Collins

Softened by Christmas excess and laziness I watched JLC present a programme about where the Kids From Fame are now. I used to really like it as a sprog...but I only lasted about 15 minutes as he is SUCH a tosser. I actually couldn't believe anyone so dreadful could get on the telly. I never usually watch these type of shows but to start with I think i was in shock. So I fast forwarded to see what Coco was like these days (pretty cool actually) and hastily deleted it. Is he supposed to be funny? Ref the Brand/Ross debate again, I am definitely the problem - my sense of humour clearly belongs to an earlier age where concepts like wit, timing, surprise etc were part of humour, rather than wearing too tight shorts and a stupid wig.

0
Twangothan | 15 January 2009 - 7:38pm

Ruins the One Show

is rather like overcooking a turd.

However Nick Knowles manages to be smug, amateur and arrogant at the same time (which is a good trick but poor entertainment) and is worse.

Davina Macall is the TV equivalent of Heat magazine and is worse.

Bill Oddie is just embarrassing for me (god knows what his family must think) and is worse also.

But top prize goes to the strangely addicted to being ubiquitous form of Andrew Lloyd-Webber. His one defining talent seems to be the only thing he doesn't do on any of these shows.

0
Leedsboy | 15 January 2009 - 8:41pm

Davina was quite good

covered in blood and zombified in 'Dead Set'. Although as most of her performance was screaming and throwing herself against a locked door no wonder people thought it was the real Big Brother.

0
DogFacedBoy | 15 January 2009 - 10:29pm

If only

it was

0
Five-Centres | 16 January 2009 - 11:51am

Well Robin Gibb

certainly took the award for tonight. "We've given £20m to charity, we don't ask people to give, we just give ourselves" followed by "we were born into poverty, dinner consisted of a few breadcrumbs". Give it a break Robin.

0
Simon Ford | 15 January 2009 - 8:42pm

Dash it!

Lee already got in with Bill Oddie.

0
SirTerence | 15 January 2009 - 9:08pm

Kohli

Absolutely agree. Just not funny.

0
Johan | 15 January 2009 - 9:12pm

Tri**y and Sus****h...

those fright queens give me the chills. Dreadful, just dreadful. Take a look in the bloody mirror before criticizing how everyone else looks you shameless old bags...

0
Patrick Crowther | 15 January 2009 - 11:24pm

Good shout

Witless, humourless and self satisfied. And they drink Nescafe......

0
Leedsboy | 15 January 2009 - 11:45pm

Better than Mica Paris and her posh sidekick though

They just take perfectly OK women and turn them into jezebels.

0
Austin | 16 January 2009 - 2:36am

This is going to be a long list

and i can't fault any of the choices. Would it be easier if we say 'Everyone on TV is annoying except.....'?

0
DogFacedBoy | 15 January 2009 - 11:40pm

Except

David Attenborough and Michael Palin

0
Beany | 16 January 2009 - 12:06am

And Brian Sewell...

gets coat...

0
Patrick Crowther | 16 January 2009 - 12:14am

On yer

Vespa

0
Beany | 16 January 2009 - 12:23am

By the by

Has anyone else noticed and celebrated the fact that ghastly colon-fetishist Gillian McKeith seems to have been relocated to the where-are-they-now file?

0
Gatz | 15 January 2009 - 11:53pm

Dr No(t)

Shit. Literally.

0
Leedsboy | 15 January 2009 - 11:55pm

In Ben Goldacre's new book

he refers to "Gillian McKeith, or to give her full medical title, Gillian McKeith".

A nice line, I think.

I hope she is in the Where Are They Now File, but I wouldn't bet on it, unfortunately.

0
Johan | 16 January 2009 - 1:12am

Fraudulent poo

McKeith's still being shown on some of the lifestyle channels, unfortunately; hopefully it's just repeats.
And Uri Geller still has a career.

0
Nick White | 16 January 2009 - 9:05am

Thats one thing you can say for Woss

when she was on his show and she'd asked him for stool sample and he bought out this tupperware box. She was baulking at the expected poo smell until he informed her it was made from mashed up Mars Bar.

0
DogFacedBoy | 16 January 2009 - 12:41am

Carol Thatcher...

... keeps popping up on The One Show. Cannot enunciate clearly, ridiculous posh voice, hair like straw and just generallly annoying. I have to leave the room.

0
Richard Raftery | 20 January 2009 - 11:07pm

Don't they know

While I can understand the egos of Singh Kohli, Oddie, Lee Collins, et al preclude any form of self awareness how, come the TV bosses don't twig just how unpopular these 'personalities' are? To continue their contracts when half of the viewers are cringing is surely self defeating. Are they tied into unbreakable deals, do they never watch their own prrogrammes or do they (shudder) rely on the curse of creativity, focus groups?

0
tkbedford | 21 January 2009 - 8:54am

SMUG SMUG SMUG AND ANNOYING!

Agree about Kohli and Oddie, but for me the most annoying of them all is Nicky Campbell - for the love of god he is the most smug twat since Giles Brandreth gave birth to his own woolly jumper!

It may seem harsh (or maybe not) but all these smugger than smug TV personalities should try the Mark Speight route of stardom in my opinion - i'm fed of seeing TV presenters who think that they are above the normal person in the street (probably quite literally a true saying now since reposessions are the current fashion!) - JEREMY KYLE ARE YOU LISTENING, DIE DIE DIE!!

Ooh, i'm all acerbic with this bile now, think i need to calm down and read the Daily Mail... WHAT, a black president.. not on my nelly.. whats his world coming to?*

*note: ironic tone there, just incase you couldnt guess!

0
über-über | 21 January 2009 - 9:44am

Colin Fry

Nasty, nasty exploiter of the poor, stupid and grieving. Has this kind of abuse been banned yet?

And Derren Brown, scourge of the above; he's good, he's clever, he's funny, but somehow still so punchable.

0
Captain Underpants | 21 January 2009 - 10:22am

Dominic Littlewood

An expert on cars, weight management, money saving tips, consumer advice, homes under hammers and car boot fairs.

Obnoxiously self righteous in the extreme and looks like Dungeonmaster from Dungeons and Dragons as casted by Guy Ritchie.

Enough - remove from our screens!

0
Six Dog | 21 January 2009 - 11:06am

Add Derek Acorah

Blatant exploitation of the gullible.

In a completely different area of tv, can I also add Davina M. Where's the talent?

0
longtonian | 21 January 2009 - 11:50am

The most irritating person on TV is...

...back this Friday with the most irritating actor in Hollywood on his couch.

0
Mr Fade | 21 January 2009 - 12:39pm

Ah Derek Acorah...

... I once saw him interviewed by Matthew Sweet on an edition of The Culture Show. Rarely have I seen a look of such pure loathing as was on Mr Sweet's during that encounter. Can we add that pillock John Edwards as well? Mainly because my Mum really believes he can talk to the dead and all of my appeals to reason fall on deaf ears.

Can I say though, I like JR when he's on the radio? I am actually looking forward to hearing him on Saturday again...

0
ganglesprocket | 21 January 2009 - 1:02pm

Don't watch them then!

There are sooo many channels now that I'm quite surprised that anybody watches people that irritate them. I think I've only been subjected to Bill Oddie about 3 times in the past 10 years - he was a bit irritating but not on screen long enough to get worked up about. I've only seen Justin Lee Collins on his own shows so he's very easy to avoid. I've never heard of Hardeep Singh Kohli so he can't be that hard to avoid either. I thought I watched a lot of television but perhaps not!

0
JohnW | 21 January 2009 - 1:17pm

I think we are allowed

to comment on the BBC types due to the unique it is funded.

0
Leedsboy | 21 January 2009 - 4:05pm

Kathy Lette

but only because she seems to be on Breakfast news more that the presenters.
I'd go for Bill Oddie, and not just because he gets to spend lots of time with Kate Humble. Well, maybe just a bit.

0
paulwright | 21 January 2009 - 4:53pm

Into the fray..

Can I nominate Michael McIntyre?

The smug, simpering, nodding, unfunny, annoying twat!

0
Neil Dyson | 21 January 2009 - 6:00pm

Alan Carr...

Larry Grayson without the devastatingly original wit.

0
Andrew Bradley | 21 January 2009 - 7:53pm

Tony Almeida off 24

Never trust a man with chin fluff.

0
Montecore | 21 January 2009 - 10:02pm

Jo Whiley

Sorry, probably a lovely lady but I can't cope with those eyes.

And Nigella Lawson's affectation of being a 'cheat' or a lazy cook.

And Gary Rhodes - the self conscious pronuciation of every T and S.

And Trinny and Susannah - self-appointed saviours of womankind who do nothing but perpetuate the myth that your mental and emotional well-being are directly related to how you look and a spot of 'retail therapy'. Got that off my chest.

0
Bigsby | 22 January 2009 - 12:37am

Davina McCall and Robert Peston

...aarrrgghh.

0
kb | 22 January 2009 - 1:20pm

I can't believe no-one

Has mentioned Graham Norton or Piers Morgan. I guess we can only be thankful that the Chris's (Moyles and Evans) are no longer part of our evening schedules.

0
Big Guxy | 22 January 2009 - 2:22pm

They're a given

Does anyone like them?

0
Five-Centres | 22 January 2009 - 4:58pm

I do

I like Chris Evans. His R2 drivetime show is excellent and I'd love something like TFI Friday again now.

Chris Moyles is a unfunny boorish show-off.
