The magic of Vespertine
Posted by Steerpike on 4 March 2010 - 10:46pm.
For me this album compares with Kate Bush's Aerial and Joni's Blue as a wonderful female confessional. It is 9 years this year since it was released and I was reminded today of just how wonderful it is.
10 years ago I would not have believed that I would find beauty in such music but it sounds even better now than it did then and I just think the whole thing is magical.

Vespertine
Love it. And I think this is one of the most extraordinary live performances I've ever seen.
This is my fave...
... Bjork album too. A real grower.
It's excellent
Doesn't get anything like enough praise when classic album discussions come along, so thanks for the reminder, Steerpike.
Fantastic album,
greatly underrated
I've said it before, and I'll say it again...
Bjork will see out everyone else currently working - of everyone around today, she's the one I can see still being relevant when she's in her 60's & 70's, still pushing the envelope in whatever field she chooses to work in... I recently dug out her "Unplugged" and "Vessel" live videos fro 1994, and they're still great.
And yes, thanks for the nudge, "Vespertine" will come out to play at the weekend.
Vespertine
always has a hard place to fight for in my heart next to Homogenic. They're both so good, and both are forward thinking in the extreme. Joga still sounds revolutionary now.
And on top of being "interesting" they're simply great pop albums too with songs that you can sing along to.
Great stuff.
