The loose and the tight...

Anyone want to talk about the Six Nations rugby? Two great matches last weekend, Wales vs England and France vs Scotland. As a Scotsman it was just relieving to finally see tries getting scored but alas demolished in the scrum, bad line outs, turn overs, etc. England and France the best so far. Stop the showboating when scoring the tries, mind. Best players? Morgan Parra, Nicolas Mas, Pierre Domingo, Chris Ashton, Andrew Sheridan, Alun Rees Jones, Mike Phillips, Richie Gray, Joe Ansbro.

I know, I know, it's
Alun Wyn Jones not Alun Rees Jones. I'm a schmuck.
My thee
players of the opening round were Francois Trinh-Duc, Sergio Parisse and Toby Flood
The most pointless game ever
Big blokes knocking each other over. Get ball, run at line of big blokes, get knocked over, scrabble about a bit, return to start.
Reminds me of the scene in "The Alamo" where John Wayne and Richard Widmark take it in turns to punch each other on the jaw. About same level of skill and refinement.
Allegedly something might happen once in every game, e.g. bloke actually runs with ball. Then gets knocked over.
Confession - was obliged to play this "game" at school for 5 years and hated every single second of it.
At its worst, yes. At its
At its worst, yes.
At its most mediocre, and at its best, that's a tired, nay hackneyed, cliche.
I hate basketball, and regularly deride my Indiana-born friend for her obsession with it. Doesn't mean I can't actually appreciate for an incredible sport.
Oh - and we (Scotland) sucked. Based on that, we're on for one of our one win seasons. If I was England, I'd be looking at us and getting a bit nervous.
Sorry, Gerry D
That was a bad performance by Scotland. My boys didn't exactly excel in the second half but a decent result nonetheless.
If I'm allowed I'm going to walk in a NZ bookies in the morning and put a few dollars on England to win the World Cup. The chances are I'll get a severe kicking for doing so and quite possibly deported but I dunno... I think they may have a shout.
Early days
and the wheels may come off yet. Both France and Ireland at Lansdowne Road wil be stern tests. My feeling is that this is a World Cup too soon for this current crop. If it took place one or two years later then they would have the experience to match the youthful promise. Still not a bad outside bet as long as you got decent odds
