This looks fabulous...
Will members of the human race ever be so cool again?

It does look fabulous
and I think your question is interesting. I recall Mr. Hepworth starting a thread the other day in which he questioned whether any young turks in rock today could match the talent of Duane Allman, at his age and playing with such apparent ease and skill. Chronologically I think you need look no further than this era of 56/57 through to the early 60s where jazz, by way of example, reached an unparalleled peak of coinciding talent, diversity, coolness and virtuosity. That happy coincidence hit rock music a decade later (nudged by Miles Davis?) and to me it does feel that popular music today is living in the penumbra of a light from a popular cultural renaissance that is ever diminishing. There's still great music around but there seems to be a dirth of talented musicians in rock and pop and a lack of aesthetic to match anything in the era of cool. Just look at Mad Men for further evidence of the fading aesthetic or the video you've posted.
