The Glastonbury Podcast
For those who didn't attend Digital Glastonbury and might have missed it, Mark Ellen, Kate Mossman, Andrew Harrison and Caitlin Moran recorded a special podcast at the real festival. Subjects covered include Crowded House's unique approach to festival security, Shakey's green doors, why it's probably the best Glastonbury ever, and poo.

Having reviewed the evidence
Wasn't able to go to Glastonbury, but having reviewed the evidence presented on the Digital Glastonbury thread (people posting pictures of their back gardens) and the Glastonbury podcast (Word staff giggling like schoolchildren and declaring themselves to be having the time of their lives) it indeed an EPIC WIN for real life Glastonbury this year, while Digital Glastonbury looked to be something of a washout.
Did you see
Archie Valparaiso's 'back garden'?
Digital 1
Real 0
Or Fraser Lewry's Sunday lunch?
Digital 2

Admittedly not seeing Elbow..
Digital 2
Real 1
But not paying to see Amy Winehouse....
Let's say it might be closer than you think
Here, here
As one of the weekend gardeners, I'm with mutt on this one. What you do get from real Glastonbury is tents and noise almost 24 hours a day. I got a nice warm bed and perfect peace. Hurrah for Digital Glastonbury! Any chance of a digital Cornbury as well? That would save me getting my arse into gear and getting down to Oxfordshire.
Guy Garevy and Elbow
Simply brilliant and I was lucky enough to be near the front stage to see Elbow's set on the Other Stage. I have somevideo so will post it on YouTube this week.
I'm still shaking with righteous indignation...
just who or what were The Feeling for f***'s sake?!
The Clincher.
Being in the audience when Jay-Z spoofed "Wonderwall".
Digital 0
Real 100
The REAL clincher:
And a trilobite on a stick as well!
Hurrah for Sky+
I agree with The Guardian that the 'landfill indie' represented by Glastonbury has become a bit tired. I'm sure it's not just my age, but I really struggle telling my Feelings from my Gossips from my Ting Tings. I enjoyed the Glastonbury weekend on the BBC, however. Recorded on Sky+ and fast forwarded over all the very average indie stuff (and Jo Whiley). I'm not a fan of hip hop, but Jay Z was a breath of fresh air. If Mr Eavis is returning to the safety of headliners like the Verve for future years I'll stay in front of my TV thank you very much and continuing FFing.
The Ting Tings.
Harrumph.
Why are there only two people on stage, or giving interviews, when there is obviously someone, somewhere out of sight, playing bass when they perform?
Do they have some ghastly affliction so distressing we or they need sheltering? Are they in fact alien, with two heads, probosces or antennae? Are they, perhaps (shock! horror!) not cool enough to be seen? Is it an ironic statement? Is it in fact, Monty Don on bass, starting a new career?
FFS, if they make a noise, let's see 'em.
Indie bands
I thought the same as you re Indie music but when at Glasto last Sunday we were in the Guardian Lounge and saw a brilliant set by the Wombats - reminded me of the Clash in '77 ay Bristol Exhibition centre - awesome. Take a look at my You Tube video (search for Wombats Glastonbury Guardian Lounge). But you had to be there - its all about experiencing it and you can't see what its like without being there - armchair Glastonbury is a shite as paying to see Pussycat Dolls.
I saw a bit of Jay Z's
I saw a bit of Jay Z's performance on TV, and wasn't impressed. But then, I wasn't expecting to be. I'll listen to all kinds of music, but rap just leaves me cold - worse, it really irritates me, because I can't even understand what people see in it. It's interesting to shake things up a bit, though, to stop the festival getting samey.
What's everyone's problem with Jo Whiley, anyway...? I speak as someone who doesn't listen to Radio 1, so maybe if I tried the answer would present itself, but I'm curious nonetheless...
In that picture.....
Andrew Harrison looks John Shuttleworth. It's uncanny. ;)
I thought there was an air. . .
of the Jack Nicholson Watches The Lakers Lose Again about him, myself.
