The Ford Ka Advert

goatboyuk69's picture

I'm hoping some enterprising soul more net savvy than me can post it but what the hell is that small child being given at the beginning of the recent Ford Ka advert? The one with the "I feel bad about life today" song?

Its definately not a banana, its not an ice lolly. I know what it looks like but decency prevents me from even beginning to imagine what kind of mind could include such an image in an otherwise innocuous car advert.

What the hell is it?

Is Chris Morris working for Ford?

Yep, you're right

it's looks like what you think it is ,,, 28 seconds in. £10 says the Daily Mail has a campaign running by Tuesday.

Speaking of ads, I thought the Hey Jude Hitmakers didn't 'do' ads, even via cover versions ... it isn't right you know ... £10 says the Independent has a campaign running by Tuesday.

Hey Jude hitmakers in adverts

I'm sure I've heard covers of their songs used in ads - the one in my head just now was for Phillips and used a cover (Gomez, I think) of "Getting Better" with a carefully placed fade-out just before the lyric "it can't get no worse."

Beatles songs in ads.

For about £150,000 they'll let you re-record anything. And from listening to that awful version all the ad prompts you to think is "what's that sh*t version of Drive My Car doing on this ad?" You then fail to take in any of the visuals whatsoever. Rubbish.

It's probably an anal probe.

The Mail will find it's been put there by aliens or muslim fundamentalists sponsored by romanies. Probably the latter.

We're going to hell in one of Richard Littlejohn's handcarts. Fact.

I think it's a lolly...

...shaped like a car. There are subtle and not-so-subtle car- and Ka-shapes dotted throughout the advert. In fact the easily-misread title at the start is not "80s Ka" but "80 Kas?", suggesting that there may in fact be 80 images of the Ford Ka hidden in the advert.

Also listen to the lyrics of the song "I'm not invisible...I'm no illusion, are you looking for me?...I am so easy to find, wake up, open up your eyes...I'm right here looking at you..."

Then the voice-over "Look deeper, you'll discover more", and the website www.gofindit.net .

Looks like they're trying for a viral thingy, but may just have been a little too subtle about it.
