The family that plays together...

torrential1's picture

This is either atrocious or very wonderful, I'll let you decide.

However it can't be denied that it's just wrong on so many levels.

When the song started

I thought it was going to break into The Kinks' Come Dancing.

I think she sings in a lower key than him and his influences are evidently Rick Astley and Vic Reeve's pub singer.

I used to work in a hotel on the sea front in Llandudno and you'd have acts like this on every other day of the week.

What happened to Mr CrystalSwing Snr....that's what I want to know?

He's the puppet master

and probably prefers to be behind the camera. If you know what I mean. Nudge Nudge. etc

ChaosandMorphine | 25 February 2010 - 5:21pm

They're scaring me.

Make it stop.
That has to be a spoof, surely?
The lad looks like a young Steve Coogan. Perhaps it's The 'Bizarro' Calf family.

ChaosandMorphine | 25 February 2010 - 5:19pm

Terrifying!

is there a helpline I can call?

0
James Blast | 25 February 2010 - 5:26pm

torrential1 | 25 February 2010 - 5:28pm

0
James Blast | 25 February 2010 - 5:30pm

Hmmm...

not the best.

0
Patrick Crowther | 25 February 2010 - 5:31pm

No No No

Don´t stop. I demand more. I suspect they're from Cork. I`ve never been so proud of my home county.

0
On The Fence | 25 February 2010 - 6:11pm

Correct!

It says on their website that you can buy the CD at McCarthy's Newsagents, Midleton and all good bread shops.

OK, I made that last bit up.

1
Steven C | 25 February 2010 - 10:52pm

Me too!...

They were in the local paper last week, and I thought that it was a wind up! Saying that, if they paid me good money I'd have no problem playing bass for them. I'll do any gig if the cash is good...or even halfway decent!

I was trying to reply to On The Fence's post but couldn't get it to work properly!

humphreym | 27 February 2010 - 10:53am

I'm more worried...

about you Torrential - how did you come across (arf) this freakshow?

0
Formbyman | 25 February 2010 - 6:27pm

I Confess

Twitter is the root of all evil...

0
torrential1 | 25 February 2010 - 9:14pm

I'm waiting for the follow up...

She Drinks Blue Nun.

0
Patrick Crowther | 25 February 2010 - 6:29pm

...

...and he talks dirty in German....

0
Ahh_Bisto | 25 February 2010 - 6:34pm

Remember that when you gaze into the abyss

the abyss gazes also into you. And sings about Tequila.

Demons

Is it me or has the mother got dark black eyes..are they demons?

1
tim tunes | 25 February 2010 - 9:18pm

The mother

does the weirdest thing at 1:09... a strange, involuntary alien movement of the mouth, like a forked tongue is about to whip out and grab you.

0
Captain Underpants | 25 February 2010 - 9:34pm

I assumed they were American...

... before I heard them talk.

Torrential said: "This is either atrocious or very wonderful, I'll let you decide."
It's atrocious. Very, very atrocious.

"However it can't be denied that it's just wrong on so many levels."
You got that right!

0
Billybob Dylan | 25 February 2010 - 9:37pm

Kill them..

...

Crystal Swing play for Kilworth Pitch & Putt Club

We HAVE to go to this!

0
Captain Underpants | 25 February 2010 - 10:42pm

Remember the Word Gig that Mr Hepworth

mentioned on the Podcast a while back...

*taps nose*

(the young lad is growing a beard for the occasion; I'd put a tenner on the mother sprouting more stubble, mind...)

0
ivan | 26 February 2010 - 12:54am

Does she actually sing (at 0.59)

"Works all day, sweating in a red hot nun..."?

Please tell me it's so.

0
Steven C | 25 February 2010 - 10:47pm

Look. It's The Coors.

Just minus the lipgloss and a bit of PR.

I know it's shit but I do feel a bit uncomfortable playing the "Ooh.. look at the silly Irish people" game. They're happy. Let's leave them to it.

And I quite fancy the mum.

0
Lenny Law | 25 February 2010 - 10:59pm

'The Coors' ??!!??

you sarky, Irish hating bastard!

:-)

0
Steven C | 25 February 2010 - 11:12pm

It's not 'cos they're Irish

The fact they are from Ireland has nothing to do with it, they could come from anywhere and still be stunningly bad - the Irish don't have a monopoly on this kind of thing.

As for the mother, I guess you could call her a 'Cork Cougar'.

2
torrential1 | 25 February 2010 - 11:27pm

I think

judging by the interviews on Youtube-that the joke's entirely on us, *they* are having a great time.

0
SpaceBoy | 26 February 2010 - 12:13am

Just discovered a priceless Irishism..

in the comments on Youtube:

"the 3 of them have a neck like a jockey's bollox"

a colourful way of saying a hard neck. Yes, just appalling.

0
Declan | 25 February 2010 - 11:46pm

Right.

This surfaced on Twitter the other day. It was either Archie Valparaiso or Rob Fitzpatrick who started it. Be warned. It makes Crystal Swing sound like Radiohead. This is what can happen to Irish music when things go wrong. Choose a track. Any track.

Lenny Law | 26 February 2010 - 12:07am

Ha!

yes, I remember this from last year. It was posted in a thread about bad covers, I think. Just stunningly bad. The version of 'Everybody Hurts' makes the charity single sound like Beethoven.

0
ChaosandMorphine | 26 February 2010 - 12:38am

Crystal Swing???

... as an Irishman I have to ask:

WTF does the name even mean?

The levels that this video is MIND-BLOWING are innumerable!

0
Nicodemus | 26 February 2010 - 1:30am

The crystal part..

..indicates freshness and wholesomeness, the swing part means they're on with each other.

0
shane pacey | 26 February 2010 - 1:44am

And now, the tribute act

That didn't take long. Cryshtal Shwing debuted last night in a Dublin gay bar. This features drag legend Panti as Mary. Legend.

0
daddyorchipsblog | 26 February 2010 - 11:11am

And there's more...

This guy is quite something...

0
Patrick Crowther | 27 February 2010 - 10:41am

there's no

beginning to that man's talent
