The Daily Mail and Cliff: Could it be any more Word?

Oh my, what a cover!

Mind you, it has got Saviour's Day on it, which might swing it back into favour.

People laugh at Cliff

but this PR blitz is working a treat. He's never off the TV or the blogs.

Nice

leather coat, denim jacket and polo neck sweater combination, sir.

They should have called it 'Merry Cliffmas'...

They missed a trick there.

I'd love to hear him do Merry Xmas Everybody. "IT"S CLIIIFFFMAS!"

Been Done.I'm Afraid,Patrick.

He did it in Panto at The Paladium. in The mid 60s. The "Merry Cliffmas",Not "Merry Xmas Everybody".
Cinderella: Jack Douglas as Alf Ippititimus as Baron Hardup and Terry Scott as an Ugly sister. Cliff as Buttons.
I remember this but not where i put my keys this morning.

Sour Crout | 19 November 2011 - 1:37pm

Christ

won't look kindly on that Cliff.

0
niscum | 19 November 2011 - 8:28pm

And

it looks like there's a bit of a cliff in the background.

1
McLongWhiteCloud | 19 November 2011 - 3:19am

I like his subtle fangs

Going for the Twilight vote?

C'mon, Cliff, you're a leader not a follower!

0
Zanti Misfit | 19 November 2011 - 3:26am

He's channelling

Alan Partridge there.

0
Dr Volume | 19 November 2011 - 3:27am

Hmm

He's obviously happy to have his recordings given away... as long as he gets paid for it! It seems odd that someone that's been campaigning to make sure people pay for his stuff is supporting a distribution method that is widely considered to give people a distorted view of the value of recordings.

All Cliff cares about is Cliff.

Have you ever seen him doing any telly or radio charity work when he doesn't have some new product to shift? He makes me want to vomit.

1
Georgedivided | 19 November 2011 - 10:44am

Charity work

If you're going to vomit, at least get your facts right.
Cliff has been actively involved in the Christian charity TearFund since 1968. Since it is specifically Christian, you don't see it all that often on telly but you may be familiar with it.
He used to do specifically gospel concert tours where all the money went to TearFund, release specifically charity albums, including one "Small Corners" which had a full label release on EMI.
He has frequently been on trips to visit TearFund work all over the world and spent a lot of time promoting the charity.
Then there are endless other charities he gives time/money/support to.

That's very interesting,

however, I didn't suggest for a moment that he didn't support charitable causes. Perhaps some fact checking of your own is in order.

0
Georgedivided | 20 November 2011 - 4:43pm

So what was your point then?

I must have misunderstood. If you accept that he does support charitable causes, what point were you making?

1
Eliakim | 20 November 2011 - 4:54pm

He likes to cash in on the

birth of the Saviour, doesn't he? I'm with Lenny on the other thread. Cliff Richard is a cunt. Cliff = Cunt - there's yer Word tee-shirt, right there.

3
badartdog | 19 November 2011 - 10:46am

and he nearly ran my mum over!

True story. She'd been to see him sing at Wembley. After the concert, they were walking away when a black car nearly hit them behind the venue. It didn't, but when it drove past (without apology) Cliff was in the back.

Bad man!

0
badger_king | 19 November 2011 - 11:08am

This adds to his list of sins (and is just as believable) ...

... He's a backseat driver.

0
epigone | 20 November 2011 - 2:25pm

is that a

euphemism?

2
badartdog | 20 November 2011 - 2:42pm

And your point is?

So, in the mellee after an auditorium empties, a pedestrian feels they had a close brush with a car. I imagine it happens after most such events. Perhaps it is the pedestrians fault (presumably the car was not on the pavement!) but even if it was the driver of the car, how is this an accusation against the passenger? (And accusation is clearly your tone).

0
Eliakim | 20 November 2011 - 5:50pm

They were crossing the road

The car didn't slow down

The fact that Cliff was in the car was inconsequential. I believe the appropriate response is that I was merely adding my tuppence worth. Such is the order of things around here.

I'd like a copy

but I'm not buying the Mail!

It's my job to sort out the Christmas tunes for the office, I'm gathering as much as I can.

kidpresentable | 19 November 2011 - 2:49pm

Charity shops

Will be full of these in the coming weeks, usually available for a small donation as they are not supposed to *cough* sell these CDs. Good for charity and bad for The Daily Mail - a result for everyone.

0
Beany | 20 November 2011 - 7:58pm

Good thinking.
