The best Stones tribute act?

stimpy's picture

Apart from the current Stones, who's the best Stones tribute act out there?

Having not seen the real Stones live since 1981, I quite fancy catching one of the tribute acts the next time they're passing my way.

Anyone seen some or all of the Counterfeit Stones, The Rolling Stoned and The Rollin' Clones - any recommendations?

Heh...

The pub band I was in at the time GOBDGU was released used to play that - as well as Jailbird

Fake Your Lips

The Counterfeit Stones are probably the most well-established act and do a very good job. Although the music is the main thing it's also partly a comedy act (from "Mick"), and a reasonably funny one too.
I've seen them twice; the first time was better because they did all the different eras, right from the earliest days.
The second was in a near-empty field at the now defunct and happily missed Middlesex Show. This was a day after the Bootleg Beatles had played to a similarly empty field - surreal but still fun.

I've seen the Rollin Stoned

a couple of times. well worth it. They usally play a classic 70's set and then 'Byron Jones' comes on with angel wings and they do a 60's set. Saw em at 100 club while the stones were last in town n was full of Europeans who were following the Stones tour - top night

In fact I'd rather go see them that the real Stones

Ah yes

They're the ones I've seen. Until you mentioned the angel's wings, I'd erased the gig from my mind.
