The Arsenal or a winning Scrabble score
Posted by Gordon Kerr on 29 November 2011 - 10:45pm.
Arsenal: Fabianski, Djourou, Koscielny, Squillaci, Miquel, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Coquelin, Frimpong, Benayoun, Park, Chamakh. Subs: Mannone, Vermaelen, Arshavin, Gervinho, Eastmond, Ozyakup, Yennaris.
That team must be a commentator's nightmare. No respite even from the subs!

It's a long way
from Wilson, Graham, George, Kennedy etc.
Park
Shouldn't "Park" be made to adopt an alias? He just doesn't seem to be really trying.
Ha, reminds me of
a bit of commentary from The Big Match in the early 80's when Derek Dougan completely mispronounced a relatively 'simple name' like Abramovic. Innocent days when Brian Moore and the panel could chuckle about exotically named foreigners.
Brian Moore
Towards the end of his illustrious career, when he started to sound a bit doddery and more prone to factual errors, the Great Brian (TACK>HEAD collaborator) didn't seem to be in on the joke when he kept referring to Yuri Djorkaeff as "Jerkoff". I fear he was being made a fool of by someone who had told him that was how the name should be pronounced.
Admit it, Gordon...
...you've made all those names up!*
But as Francis brings him up, didn't Derek Dougan call himself 'The Doog' or somesuch? Does that mean some of these Arsenal guys call themselves The Fab, The Squill, The Coq, The Frimp...? Might make it easier for those commentators...
(* Yes - I'm not a football follower. Honestly haven't heard of any of these people!)
