You can't take it with you!
Mixed feelings about this. The film is rather mawkish and lays it on with a trowel somewhat (deliberately as presumably it's designed to tug the heartstrings of would be benefactors....)
A record collection is a personal thing for a person to enjoy, and represents their taste, and preferably fits in a back bedroom. This is just an obsession gone unchecked. What is the point of amassing such a vast collection that you can no longer manage to look after it? He can't be a very discerning can he?
I'm not surprised it hasn't sold. The cost of archiving, storing and insuring it would be enormous..and what exactly would you do with it? Can a vast record collection work as a library or museum?
Still I hope the old boy finds a good home for it..come on Elton you know you want to!
Miles of aisles
You'd think someone like former Microsoft man Paul Allen, the guy who built the Hendrix museum in Seattle, would have a spare $3 million to buy this. There must be one rich rock star who's enough of a fan to want to dig for the treasure that must be in there.
