The Alternative Prog Randomizer

Continuing the Prog theme of this month's issue why don't we do a Prog Randomizer.
You just need to open a new playlist ( Call it Beard or something ) and just drag all those 20 minute mystical behemoth's into that folder.

Count me out

Only prog I have in my collection are Van Der graaf Generator, Camel and Caravan. Was tempted to buy the Gabriel era Genesis albums but at around £95 they can fuck off.

That's for the plumtious box set, which is over the top.

If you buy from amazon.com you can get the vital trio of Trespass, Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot for around £20 the lot at the current exchange rate, even after postage is added.

If you do order them, make sure you order them in two separate orders so that they are not packed together; if they arrive together the package might be worth over £18, at which point Her Majesty's Thieving Bar Stewards will slap a 3 quid Customs charge on, and the Royal Fail will add another 8 quid for the arduous task of informing you that you've been ripped off and withholding the goods until you stump up.

Thanks for the heads-up Beany

Wish the bastards had done that before I bought the latest Grateful Dead Egypt 1978 box though.

Me No Eye Pod

Will this do...

Trans-Siberian Orchestra + Christmas. Sheer bliss! I would nominate their 4-CD boxed set from the USA if you like this. If not...PARP!

Beany | 15 November 2008 - 11:46am

To be fair....

nobody (and many have tried) can ruin the basic tune here, for which we should thank good old Pachalbel. I even like the Farm's Altogether now. This, posted above, is, inevitably, pretentious nonsense, but I, for one, have used bigstevie's advice and i-podded the sound from it.
Incidentally, whilst checking the spelling of Pachalbel, came across this, um, nugget.....

Retropath2 | 15 November 2008 - 12:29pm

Right... here goes....

Random Goose - The IX Wives of Benjamin Bodhisattva

Hammond, Dozy & Hammond - Dancing With The Snow Elf (Excerpt 1)

Capricorn Nebula Monkfish - Symphony Of The Wind

Hapless Vertigo - Coronation Of The Sprites

Hrrrumph - Moog On Up

Patrick Crowther | 15 November 2008 - 4:48pm

What?

No Sir Millard Mulch?

Or Pedal Giant Animals?

Wither Big Elf?

Surely a touch of Hectic Watermelon even?

They are ALL on the list at http://www.progarchives.com/ Your Ultmate Prog Rock Resource.

Even those pesky Beatles are there, described as Proto-Prog. Bet they are pleased they have finally made it. Wonder what happened to them..?
