That's just a silly name for a band

I read my weekly Ents24.com newsletter with increasing astonishment at the silly names being adopted by bands these days. How do they expect to sell records when you cannot pronounce their name?

Danananananaykroyd - This Glasgow six-piece formed in January 2006. Drawing on influences from Rocket from the Crypt and Sonic Youth to Jim O'Rourke and Stereolab, they have dubbed their raw brand of music 'Fight Pop'.

zZz - is the sleazy steamin' locomotive barrelling out of Amsterdam. By combining the doom-laden vocals of the late Ian Curtis and the dark psychobilly madness of Alan Vega, a monstrous thunder is let loose. Organ, drums and vocals is all it takes for this sexy disco cult duo to serve up their Molotov cocktail of violent trance, psychedelic electro wave, garage soul and dirty rock & roll.

I blame the NME. Never happen in my day, etc.

You know you're getting old when....

...I was in the car with my wife (who's a little bit younger than me) and we were listening to Radio 1's Glastonbury coverage. They were reeling off a list of bands that were playing that afternoon. I turned to my wife and said: "They're having a laugh aren't they? They're just making those names up."

She said: "You sound just like my dad".

I'm not getting old honestly! It really did sound like somebody was sat in the studio with a random name generator going. Honestly! It's not just me on a one way road to middle age....

Please?
