Thanks Quentin
Heard 'Stuck In The Middle With You' on the radio today. Bought it, I think, when it came out, or one of my mates did. Hadn't it dropped out of sight until it reappeared in Reservoir Dogs and has since become a bit of a radio and disco staple? One to which I've certainly danced-the-embarrassing-uncle.
Who else should be giving thanks and getting a round in for their benefactors? Steady with that keyboard, we're betting without Nick Lowe and The Bodyguard.

a perfectly good guitar player strikes lucky
I imagine that bit out of True Lies where Jamie Lee Curtis does a little dance for The Governator helped with John Hiatt's mortgage. If only he got YouTube repeat fees....
Digging his cheques
I'd imagine that Doctor Robert has lived comfortably for a number of years off the endless revenue stream that is the Blow Monkeys' "You Don't Owe Me" on the Dirty Dancing soundtrack.
Thanks Steven
I'd add Elvis Presley. Erm, not that he really needs more benefactors, but credit has to be given to Steven Soderbergh for putting 'A Little Less Conversation' on the soundtrack of 'Ocean's Eleven', and thus bringing a hitherto less well-known Elvis gem to our collective attention. Credit is often given to the guys who made the Nike ad - who used the souped-up, JXL version - but JXL clearly only came across it in the first place thanks to Soderbergh.
