Tell Me Over And Over...

This popped up on the old player just now...over 40 years old and still pertinent. Barry McGuire - "Eve of Destruction"

Isn't it ironic

that he gave up chasing the Rock 'n' Roll dream to become Born Again?
Just like the idiots currently manning the big tiller as we steer ever closer to the eschatologically inevitable.

There is an interesting version.....

....of "Eve of Destruction" on the Pogues box set, a set ever suitable for cherry picking. It is, however, not very good. Unlike a marvellous Maggie May, which makes Rod Stewart sound like a polished lothario by comparison.

True Story...

I was in Lisbon when the Twin Towers were hit and as is usually the case when panic ensues me and the good lady headed to the nearest taverna we could find that afternoon to drink tequila. On the way there we were walking along the sea wall at about 6pm (it was absolutely deserted as everyone was inside watching the TV)when all of a sudden we heard 'Eve of Destruction' drifting across the evening air - we had no idea where it was coming from (we think now it was one of the boats in the harbour) but it stopped us dead in our tracks and actually sounded incredibly moving at the time.

I was standing in the open-plan office of...

Kerrang! magazine alongside the singer of Napalm Death...

That was surreal.
