tech help

yorkch's picture

Two questions for the technically gifted "Massive" - apologies if this has been covered before elsewhere

1. Spotify - I have free spotify on one of my laptops but cannot work out how to install it on a second newer machine. I can log in to the website ok but cannot find how to install the software and find my playlists on the second laptop.

2. Similar problems with itunes on new laptop. I have authorised my new lap top to be synced with my existing itunes account but it won't show any of my account music or let me download itunes tracks that i have bought in the past.

Help ! And thank you ( in anticipation!)

1. With Spotify I have downloaded the software and run it from multiple machines - just using my same log-in each time- just visit the website to download

2. Itunes. You may have logged in with your name but it will only show the tracks in your library on that machine. If you have downloaded tracks to another machine you will need to transfer them physically if you want to play them on your new laptop - my recollection is that Itunes doesn't allow multiple downloads of the same purchase (other sites do)

re itunes - I currently have my library on a pc and a laptop and they are one and the same. However the new lap top doesnt seem to want to see my existing library when i authorise it.

Thanks re Spotify - i feel that I was being stoopid

iTunes

If all your library is on the computer that iTunes is installed on and it's not being "seen" by iTunes, then it's either in the wrong place or you haven't told iunes that it's there. Have you tried going to File|Add folder to library?

Try Home Sharing

The other option is to turn on Home Sharing on iTunes on the main PC - use your Apple ID to setup. Your laptop (Or any other PC that turns on home sharing on the same account) should then be able to see the shared library without the need for the files to be there (just a network connection).

Should be under Advanced / Turn On Home Sharing.
