Loved Dallas, love to hate JR
What a despicable man JR was - his only rival in the 1980s low-life stakes being this woman...
The first few series were fantastic telly...
JR was my role model when I was growing up. I thought "If I can be as big a bastard as him when I'm an adult then I'll have done something right."
The programme was also massively enlivened by the legendary Victoria Principal swimming pool scenes, of which there were many.
Dallas 78-81
First topic of conversation on the bus to school the day after (Thursday?).
The best ever scene was Priscilla Presley in the barn after shenanigans with Ray,
Too right mate
A sea-devil in drag who stalked early afternoon 80s telly, she really was a bad 'un.
Didn't the guy who played her cruel-but-essentially-milquetoast son end up on Neighbours playing, ironically, a cuddly-but-essentially-milquetoat family guy?
Yeah, he did
I glimpsed a 'Sons and Daughters reunion' clip (chatshow, by the looks of it) on Youtube earlier... haven't succumbed so far, but am itching to see what became of them all.
Oil Baron's Ball
Scene of many a bust-up... wonder if they'll still have them. They can't not, can they? :-)
One of JR's finest moments...
"You boys take care of her now!"
Another schoolgirl crush
Dusty Farlow... "Sue Ellen, he was the only man who really loved you!" ;-)
By the way...
who did shoot JR?
One of my very best puberty buddies
The fabulous Mary Crosby as Kristen
Bing Crosby's Granddaughter
IIRC?
Daughter,
wasn't it?
she was indeed
his daughter.
A Nerd Speaks...
Der Bingle's actress granddaughter is Denise, who played Tasha Yar in Star Trek The Next Generation...
The only thing
that I remember "Dallas" fondly for is the hyperactive bass-player in the theme music. He really "gives it some".

Embedding is not permitted for all versions of the opening titles that I tried. This one is the clearest musically that I found.
Didn't the theme evolve over the years
to become more disco. I'm sure I remember, many moons ago, finding a site that had archived the opening title music from each series of Dallas and there was a subtle change every year.
Do you remember Sue Ellen's dumbass brother?
Nearly always wore a blue shirt. Played guitar a bit. Became a journalist over in England. Didn't like Steve Forbert.
Mark??
Anyone ever play
Drink a long a Dallas?
(
Every time they have a drink, you have a drink. Particularly good fun when sue Ellen was on form. Wednesday nights would fly by.
