Does anyone know when subscription copies arrive in Ireland? Thanks.

With the current weather?

I don't know. Mine hasn't arrived in London yet.

Fair Point

But are they sent out the same time as British copies?

0
Pat Carty | 12 January 2010 - 5:43pm

Yes

But by a different company, I believe.

0
Fraser Lewry | 12 January 2010 - 5:44pm

Normally arrive in Ireland shops...

... on the 2nd Thursday of the month.

And arrive in subscribers' homes the Monday after that (but don't be surprised if it's later).

If That's The Case

Can anyone from Word explain why? That's not exactly a fantastic service.

Pat Carty | 13 January 2010 - 1:12am

Ireland?

Well, I wouldn't be subscribing from there if I was you.

Vulpes Vulpes | 13 January 2010 - 11:07am

?

Sorry?

0
Pat Carty | 13 January 2010 - 12:58pm

Humble apologies. Ancient Kerryman joke:

Rambler asks farmer in deepest Kerry, "How do I get to Ballywhatsit?"
Farmer answers: "Well, I wouldn't start from here.".

Another Kerryman joke..

A Kerryman with a load of spuds on a little truck spends half the day driving up to Dublin - his first trip there. Gets to O'Connell Street and stops, sticks his head out the window, and asks a passer-by
"Is dis Dublin?"
"Dis is Dublin" comes the reply.
"Where d'y'want dem?" asks the Kerryman.

yawn...

What year is it now? Did we not move on from this stereotypical shite once ITV yanked Bernard Manning et al off our tv screens?

any of you fine fellows

able to confirm that your subscription issue has arrived yet?

0
ivan | 21 January 2010 - 10:42am

Yes.

A few days back, actually.

0
Vulpes Vulpes | 21 January 2010 - 7:38pm

where are you in ireland,

vulpes, old boy?

0
ivan | 22 January 2010 - 12:34am

Nothing...

yet.

0
humphreym | 21 January 2010 - 8:04pm

Nothing Was Delivered...

... here either. But I'm pretty used to the tardy delivery now.

Judging by the post-mark I think it takes a trip to Germany before winging it's way to Ireland. Indeed, sometimes I've noticed it pops over to France before making it to the Emerald Isle also. It's carbon footprint must be of Yeti proportions.

And, while you wait, you can look at it longingly in your local newsagent. Because it arrives there long before it gets to you.

Bizarre.

0
Nicodemus | 22 January 2010 - 1:10am

Well I'm in Germany..

and still wailing.

Declan | 22 January 2010 - 1:21am

Latest Yet?

Anybody in the Repblic of Ireland received their February edition of The WORD yet?

I haven't.

The postman just dropped in another magazine I subscribe to from the U.K. It was only posted from their three days ago. The WORD was posted out almost three weeks ago.

Go figure.

We're waiting to hear back from DHL

It's not just Irish copies - there seem to be delays all over the place.

0
Fraser Lewry | 25 January 2010 - 4:16pm

Thanks for the update...

...whatever you're paying them, it's too much.

Just send it by regular post and it'll be quicker.

0
Nicodemus | 25 January 2010 - 4:21pm

Still no...

sign of it yet.

0
humphreym | 25 January 2010 - 3:42pm

Here in deepest

Castilla-la-Mancha there is no sign of it yet, but then again we are a tad behind the times. We´ve only just finished with the Inquisition and and are eagerly awaiting the Renaissance.

0
On The Fence | 25 January 2010 - 4:08pm

I'm still waiting...

... ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh.

This is only the second time I can recall an issue not arriving and I've subscribed since issue 3 or 4. That's not a bad track record.

I contacted the office as per Fraser's suggestion and I had a reply the next day saying there was a copy in the post for me.

0
Billybob Dylan | 26 January 2010 - 3:26pm

Here in Switzerland

still not arrived.

Private Eye usually arrives on the Friday or Saturday of same week at latest. Maybe you should be using their shipping company ?

0
SwissPhil | 26 January 2010 - 4:45pm

And The WORD Was Made Manifest...

... eerrr, that means it has arrived in my gaff to-day.

First thought: Liking the new cd wallet, fold-out leaf design thingy.

Now I better get on and read it before the next edition arrives.

0
Nicodemus | 2 February 2010 - 2:56pm

yup

mine landed too. Many thanks to Fraser, Jerry et al for updates.
