Chris G | 3 March 2010 - 12:59pm

Email or snail mail?

Can't see any sign of an email and I won't see my post until the weekend.

0
fortuneight | 3 March 2010 - 6:11am

My thoughts as well,

bit early for the paper edition isn't it?

0
Mint | 3 March 2010 - 7:41am

It's an email

I don't think I can wangle a trip to That London on the date, unfortunately.

0
el hombre malo | 3 March 2010 - 8:03am

Nothing in my inbox from Word Towers

and I'm a subscriber - as far as I can see I'm subscribed to everything there is.

Would a kind sould please forward to me?

Thanks

Edit:

Thanks Fraser - much appreciated.

0
fortuneight | 3 March 2010 - 8:34am

Nowt here

Alas, nowt in my inbox either (if Fraser might also do the honours, I'd be v grateful).

0
daddyorchipsblog | 3 March 2010 - 9:17am

Thanks for the invite

a bit London-centric if you don't mind me saying (the Lexington, N1. Yes, and where's that?)

I'm just a jealous guy

Nick Duvet | 3 March 2010 - 8:40am

But doesn't a slowburning

But doesn't

a slowburning glow of downbeat decadence and bluesy class - with perhaps just a dash of burlesque elegance thrown in for good measure.

describe the Massive so well ;-)

0
SpaceBoy | 3 March 2010 - 8:57am

Hmmm, not sure about the burlesque bit

though...

0
Retro Man | 3 March 2010 - 10:15am

*shakes tassles*

whaddya mean?

0
badartdog | 3 March 2010 - 2:26pm

Thinking of subscribing,

I've been with the Word since the get go,It's just the thought of seeing the sadness on Frank the Newsagents little face when I cancel my order that's stopping me.So should I stick it to Frank or what? Sorry no threadjack intended it just seemed the appropriate time to ask.

0
Pencilsqueezer | 3 March 2010 - 9:00am

Support Frank!

Don't let these subscription fascists win! You'll miss Frank when he's gone. (This has been a party political broadcast by the Village Green Preservation Society.)

0
Captain Underpants | 3 March 2010 - 9:50am

Sod Frank!

£36. made the decision easy for me.

0
Doug B | 3 March 2010 - 11:52am

Vacillating

wildly now.I like Frank, but I like to save money.Their's only one way to decide this.....FIGHT!

0
Pencilsqueezer | 3 March 2010 - 12:31pm

Frank..

has no doubt read YOUR copy off the shelf and put it back before you got there. Don't trust the b#stard.

0
Doug B | 3 March 2010 - 12:39pm

That could be why

page 38 was stuck to page 39 of the last issue.

0
Pencilsqueezer | 3 March 2010 - 12:49pm

Yeah, sod Frank

Cos when he closes down you can always drive across town to Tesco when you need a pint of milk, can't you? That'll take care of what you saved on subscribing.

Lucky for you you're not elderly, disabled or poor and have to rely on Frank... but yeah, enjoy your 40p a week saving.

Sorry, ranting now...

0
Captain Underpants | 3 March 2010 - 1:14pm

Sorry Captain...

But I'd rather help the good people at Word Towers by subscribing and helping to keep the mag going than wondering if Frank has even bothered to get it in this month.
Now if Frank were to organise special gigs in his back room......

0
Doug B | 3 March 2010 - 2:08pm

I had the same dilemna pencil

Then a mate bought me the subscription and made the decision for me. Fortunately, I've got over the moral dilemna by making sure I buy any other reads I'm partial to: Private Eye, Viz and others at his place: so there's been no falling out.

0
Vorgongod | 3 March 2010 - 9:10am

Thanks Fats.

I'll stick it to Frank and buy my Radio Times from him instead.

0
Pencilsqueezer | 3 March 2010 - 9:41am

Looking forward to it.

I"m one of the lucky ones who live in Islington. It'll drown out the sound of Islington youth for a few hours.

0
Lunaman | 3 March 2010 - 9:17am

I presume

there must be a lot of us not having a clue what you're all talking about? Either that or I am genuinely paranoid......

0
el toro calvo grande | 3 March 2010 - 9:24am

I'll try to clarify

There's an email which gives info on the event floated in an earlier podcast.

From the questions here it seems that some people haven't got the email yet, which I'm sure Mr Lewry is investigating.

I did receive it - I get my word info to my gmail account, if that's any clue.

I guess everyone is being coy about specifics because the point of the email was to tell subscribers ahead of the public announcement.

0
el hombre malo | 3 March 2010 - 9:36am

Thanks Fraser

for sending the email on. As I suspected I won't be able to make it but it represents an interesting development for the tribe that is Massive....regional piss-ups and gigs required. I see Manchester and Glasgow are joining in the fun re the former......Birmingham missing out again?

0
el toro calvo grande | 3 March 2010 - 12:45pm

Get one on the go.....

That's what i did and it has been great fun since. Good luck.

0
Lunaman | 3 March 2010 - 6:23pm

Me too

I decided to stick my head above the parapet and see who was interested in the Glasgow one. Mind you, I'm in Birmingham as I type, and I'm spending more time in Brum than at home just now.

If you pick a Thursday, I might be able to make it to your one as well.

0
el hombre malo | 3 March 2010 - 6:34pm

No email in my box, either.

I feel all left out.

0
Lenny Law | 3 March 2010 - 9:50am

"Blokes put on gig in local pub"

Calm down everyone, it's hardly "Radical new form of paper clip invented" is it?

0
skirky | 3 March 2010 - 10:11am
Steven C | 3 March 2010 - 10:43am

Clarification

There's an e-mail that's been sent to subscribers to the magazine (not to those merely registered with the website) giving notice of a small event we're holding in late April.

If you haven't received it, it's probably because the subscription company doesn't actually have your address - and if you didn't subscribe online, this is a distinct possibility. To make sure you receive any future mails, you need to make sure they do have your e-mail address, and this can be done at https://word.subscribeonline.co.uk/login

In the meantime, if you're a subscriber and believe you should have had the e-mail, drop me a line and I'll send you the details. For everyone else, we'll be making the news officially public in a few days.

0
Fraser Lewry | 3 March 2010 - 10:20am

Error

I've been trying to log in with my web ID various times for a few months, but have always had the same error message:

"User Login Error - The login facility is currently unavailable
Sorry there seems to be a problem with the system, an Email regarding this issue has been sent to the site administrator.

If this persists please contact your System Administrator."

I am wondering if others are able to access this or if it's a universal problem.

0
TIAL | 3 March 2010 - 12:21pm

I've just logged in OK

What browser and operating system are you using?

0
Fraser Lewry | 3 March 2010 - 12:32pm

Windows XP

and I've tried it with both Chrome and Firefox.

Maybe it's the wrong WEB ID? I copied and pasted it directly from an email though.

0
TIAL | 3 March 2010 - 12:40pm

It sounds like a trechnical error

Rather than one generated by a wrong ID. If you're happy to send me the details I'll test it at my end.

0
Fraser Lewry | 3 March 2010 - 12:53pm

Thanks

Have done so.

0
TIAL | 3 March 2010 - 1:09pm

Can I just add

that it's a great idea, and if successful can we have others around the UK please?

0
Humphrey Plugg | 3 March 2010 - 10:55am

I'd Love To Go

But it's a bit of a trek from Dublin on a Wednesday with work the next morning

0
Pat Carty | 3 March 2010 - 11:25am

Pat, perhaps we could organise a cross-border meet and

get funding from the IFI, the Emerald Fund or the White House? Do you think Bill Clinton and his sax could fill Dundalk Greyhound Stadium? It would be about the half-way mark. ;-)

1
Steven C | 3 March 2010 - 2:05pm

Nevermind

I'm broke after buying CSN, McCartney and Paul Brady tickets anyway. It would be nice to see Pugwash do a few Irish shows though.

0
Pat Carty | 3 March 2010 - 2:27pm

I live in N6

So have bought a ticket.

See you there!

0
ganglesprocket | 3 March 2010 - 12:18pm

N1?

Oh. Thought it said NI. Still too far and I will be washing my hair that night.

0
Beany | 3 March 2010 - 6:29pm

Pubwatch?

Some bloke from The Met talking about tackling binge drinkers? Think I'll give it a miss.

0
Captain Underpants | 3 March 2010 - 6:37pm

As I'm in Dublin...

I won't be there. And anyway, Pugwash? I mean, come on, there must be someone else...
