In the middle of the latest one....

...there is a gong and then Kate Mossman tells you how to get the proper podcast....there's then a 2 second gap(approx) and then it carries on for the rest of the show. At the *gong* point, I thought I had the wrong one too.

Agree with the OP that's it's a crap idea.

That doesn't sound right

Sounds to me like you're subscribed to both versions and listened to the free one then the subscriber one. The audio you describe is only at the end of the free version.

I am actually subscribed to both...

...as I'm not sure which one to delete. I use ZenCast to download all my podcasts. Both show up on my download list in Zencast and they both go to the same folder(ie Zencast/Word Magazine). One of the downloads comes down very quickly and the other gets to around 30-40% then slows down to a halt. What I've got in my folder from this week is 3 files...word 196.mp3, word 196.blk and word 196.tfe

I assume the odd files are temporary stuff when I stopped the slow download.....the other is the one with the gong in it, followed by the second half as already mentioned.

A while ago I said that all the new podcasts had the same date eg01/01/2000 or something like that....this has since fixed itself and all the podcasts are now in the correct order.

OK

Looks like ZenCast isn't treating the feeds separately despite them having different names, coming from different servers, and being updated by different XML files, which is a bit odd. I think the best way to proceed would be to delete both feeds and then just add the subscriber feed again.

Or, if you can identify the URL of each feed, delete the one from hipcast.com and retain the one from wordpodcast.co.uk.

Ok

I didn't have one from hipcast...it was from feedburner. I deleted it and kept the one from wordpodcast....fingers crossed. I'll let you know if there's a gong in the next one.

The Feedburner one

Is the same as the Hipcast one. So you've removed the right one.

Steve

I've e-mailed you your number, and I've checked your feed - it works just fine.

I had a similar problem

when for some reason my Google Reader lost the link. Found I had to add link in again and seems fine now. This time clipped the link to Evernote in case any further snafus.

Irritating I know, but it's Word not the FT or Times, and it takes them months/years to roll multi-device compatible stuff out, presumably with more staff than Fraser working on it ?
