Entertainment For Lively Minds
Stop this madness before it's too late!
I see Piers Morgan is doing one of his interviews with Simon Cowell. And it's gonig to last an hour-and-a-half!
It's too, too much. It's not like there are going to be any interesting revalations. Morgan may think he's some grand inquisitor and the fearless heir to early Parky, but he's as hard-hitting as Ben Shephard, and someone who's as famous as those he's interrogating. It'll be bland PR- controlled claptrap of the highest order.
I'm sick of Simon Cowell. I'm sick of Piers Morgan. I'm sick of Cheryl Cole. She's asking for her privacy now she's dumped Ashley. Alright, love, go home and don't come out for six months. But she won't of course.
I'm sick of Jordan and Alex, Peter Andre, Amanda Holden, JLS, Chris Evans. Everyone.
Help me, I'm going crazy with all this celeb shit. What about you?

I concur
Particularly with regards to Piers Morgan.
Has anyone read this?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Celebrity-Entertainers-Took-World-Strategy/dp/18...
I think I might purchase it.
worth a read
depressing and amusing in equal measure.
I feel
your pain.
Oh lighten up!
honestly, just ignore them.
Yes...
... you wouldn't buy an album by someone you don't like would you? Don't watch the bloody thing!!!
I don't intend to
But you can't miss them, not in my job anyway.
Maybe it's time for you to become...
... a teacher.
Don't think
I haven't seriously thought about it
Just ignore it
Take your point. And you do wonder what the fuck a pair of airheads like Piers Morgan and Simon Cowell are going to talk about for an hour and a bloody half. But just ignore it. It's not hard. Just tune out.
Your 'things you're sick of' list: well I know all about Chris Evans and quite like him; know who Jordan and Peter Andre are and that they were married for telly and sleb magazine contracts then split up but I've never wasted a second of my time watching any of their silly programmes or reading their boring stories in crap magazines; presumably "Alex" is some new twist in the Jordan plot; dimly aware of who Amanda Holden is but not to the point of caring; never heard of JLS. See. It's easy. Just ignore this stuff and it won't drive you crazy.
which magazine
do you edit, Five-Centres ;-)
Well
It ain't Heat, or I think I might have killed myself by now
Come on..
everyone needs to sound off sometimes, and if you can't do it here..
Piers fearlessly grills the man...
... who gave him a job on America's Got Talent.
ITV really are the pits aren't they?
It's the circularity of it all
Simon is on TV, so he gets featured in the mags.
He gets featured in the mags, so he becomes a topical/news item.
He's a topical/news item, so he becomes a TV commodity.
He's a TV commodity so gets on more TV.
etc etc
And at no stage does anyone seem to ask "Is this any good?". That's why it's so depressing and annoying and not so easily ignored.
I used to get seriously pissed off...
by all those people you mention. Now I ignore them. They have no relevance to my life whatsoever.
The only way to ignore this stuff
is to go and live in North Korea. Which might be preferable. And Sting will probably tour there soon too.
You can
Just don't watch it or read about it.
Same for a lot of us mate .....
... but unfortunately there are millions of cretins who get excited by all that celebrity tittle tattle. That's why the PR industry is so powerful and we can't walk into a newsagents without having these repulsive, ego driven, monsters staring us in the face.
Even while working in its midst..
...I completely ignore 'celeb kultcha'. I've far more important things (to me) up about which to get worked and I've never, for example, watched a Piers Morgan programme. Indeed, I don't remember the last time I watched anything on ITV. The telly goes on at about 8pm (once Radio 4 has relinquished its all-day presence) and the popular press is shunned. The shit you mention is not difficult to avoid.
There are some good documentaries on Radio 4 at 8
And Radcliffe and Maconie come on then as well...
Telly is rubbish till Jon Stewart comes on at half eight. Come to think of it, he'd be a good Word from The Wise subject surely?
Yes...
...and a lot of the 8pm docs are on during the day, too. I do love Radcliffe and Maconie, but never listen to music radio.
There's a fine series currently on at 1130am on Thursdays: Capturing America features Mark Lawson talking to and/or about the great American writers - Vidal, Mailer, Vonnegut, Updike etc.
Ditching Ashley
As a replacement, I'd recommend Everton's Leighton Baines. No-nonsense. Thrilling penetration.
blimey!
you know him very well!
You really have to......
....switch this stuff off. It is the scourge of the 21st Century. I hate it when people say "I know it's rubbish but you have to watch it"....you don't. Only put the TV on for something you really want to watch. The other excuse is "I just want to watch some rubbish that I don't have to concentrate on as I need to relax"...you don't. Since I moved away the only TV I watch is what I choose to and it is usually a DVD anyway. I don't miss Holmes, Kaplinsky, Cowell or any of these people and I am finally reading those books that have sat on the shelf for 5 or 10 years......expunge the rubbish people and be liberated....turn OFF.
Ignore it if you will, but ...
all that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men stay indoors listening to Supertramp.
