Still in love with you

Lunaman's picture

Robert Elms had a 'face off' called 'Cover to cover' on his BBC Londonlive show this week. It was Sade vs Thin Lizzy. He made it a little odd by playing Lizzy s studio version against Sade's new cover which is (I think) based on the great live version from 'Live & dangerous'. I immediately thought the Lizzy version was the best. I thought I'd have another listen tonight. There was a comment on you tube that said "Thin Lizzy's will always top my list...but this can nestle very comfortably next to it!!!" I think I agree - What do the massive think of it?

Sade

Thin Lizzy

I've got to say that Lizzy is still streets ahead but it was an interesting cover.

Can't beat the Lizzy version

But Sade's cover ain't bad at all. Show's you how good a songwriter Phil Lynott was when his songs can be covered by an artist who's musical style couldn't be further from Thin Lizzy.

A slight bias?

As Mr Elms and Sade were once an item, is it conceivable that he'd play the lesser Lizzy in order to favour his former flame?

I'll go for Sade

Although the TL clip was much better than I was expecting until the guitar wankery starts ( sorry, just can't stand noodling).

Btw elms has these cover to cover face offs every Friday and I always think they would be good threads on here.

You should listen to the studio version

On the Nightlife album. It features a duet with Frankie Miller and a much more restrained Gary Moore solo which might be more to your taste!
