Steve Wynn ???
Posted by Excitable Boy on 8 August 2010 - 4:01pm.
Have just come across a cracking track called "Amphetamine" by Steve Wynnn and the Miracle 3. Am keen to investigate further but see he has a huge body of work. Can any of the Massive help me with this ? Is his Dream Syndicate work the best place to start ?

Amphetamine
is a brilliant track, and a tour de force live. You should try to catch him when he comes over in the autumn because the Miracle 3 are a cracking live act.
As to where to start with the Dream Syndicate, get the album Live At Raji's.
For his solo stuff, the Tucson trilogy are the best so far - Here Come The Miracles, Static Transmission, and Tick Tick Tick. They're all terrific.
He also happens to be one of the nicest men in the business, always very friendly and chatty before and after gigs.
Mr Wynn
He does have a massive catalogue and I'm only acquainted with a small part of it. However there is a compilation, put together by Steve himself called Pick Of The Litter, which may be a good place to start.
I also love, that should be LOVE, the album by Danny and Dusty (Dusty being Steve's nickname) called The Lost Weekend. It's loose but rocks like a mutha.
I'd also like to sat what a thoroughly nice chap Steve is. Many years ago I saw him supporting Chuck Prophet and got talking to him after the gig. There was no muso ego; he chatted away to me, my friend and a couple of other guys until the management chucked us out.
Buy, buy, buy!
Danny and Dusty
Me too! Especially Song for the Dreamers.
And the follow up D&D album from a few years ago is excellent too.
Agreed
I think Lost Weekend is hard to find, the "follow up" is excellent but I'm not entirely convinced by the new live double. The spirit doesn't come across very well at all.
Steve live
Steve is doing a European tour, but only a single date in the UK.
He's playing The Lexington (where have I heard about that venue recently?) on Tuesday November 23rd with his band The Miracle 3.
I would heartily second everything
that has been said above. I have a good proportion of his recordings and haven't been disappointed once. I've just checked my itunes library and I have 160 songs on there. I haven't been on his website recently but he used to regularly put up free downloads. And a great big ditto for Chuck Prophet as well
Is that the same Steve Wynn as
the one who owns half the casinos (casini?) in Las Vegas?
cheers
never heard of him before. Just had a listen on Spotify. Excellent.
By way of a thankyou

Good news for fans and a chance to hear for those who don't know him to sample new music from Steve:
