Starry Eyed & Laughing

Sitting on the grass at an open-air gig at Surry Uni in the blistering summer of '76 there was nothing more I wanted than a bottle of cider and Starry Eyed & Laughing. How can a band from Bedford, that were so derivative of the Byrds, sound so way ahead of their time? Lovely

Post script...
Tony Poole (he of the glasses and the 12 string Rickenbacker) has gone on to produce the wonderful Danny & The Champions, among other things.
How many other bands
took their name from a Dylan lyric, I wonder?
Judas Priest comes to mind.
Mike Wackford on drums! But of course he is!
That was great. I'd never heard them or heard of them before, so thanks for that.
Derivative, yes, but also bloody good.
They only made a couple of albums
But I loved them. In 1973 there wasn't anyone else gigging in the UK with those lush harmonies and that laid back, country vibe. They folded when all the medium- small gigs dried up as the Punk Panzer Divisions came rolling over the hill.
I saw 'em at Uni.
Breath of fresh air. Bought the first album and still have it. Shoulda, coulda, but didn't. Pity.
Tony Poole
also edited this cd set from one of the most memorable gigs I ever went to.

Wow..
They REALLY sound like The Byrds, right down to the Clarence White clone on the Telecaster.
(Nowt wrong with that mind)
