Springsteen in Glasgow last night

risles's picture

Just wanted to say that Springsteen and the E Street Band were fantastic in Glasgow last night. If anyone is still wanting to know where the `roll' in `rock'n'roll' has gone, then a 15-minute closer of Twist & Shout/La Bamba in front a whole stadium on its feet showed that Springsteen still knows where to find it, even if no one else does.

Wonderful

Wonderful gig wasn't it.

Springsteen's ability to hold an entire stadium in rapt attention was amazing. I did a quick look up on Twitter when I got home and see that someone in his team tweets the improvised songs of the night after every gig, and links to the handwritten set list. What a pro.

Fantastic

I took all three of my children plus Mrs P and her parents - age range 9 to 70. We all had a whale of time. It was the first 'proper' concert my youngest son has been to. I'm not sure what effect that will have on him - a wonderful first experience of a live show, for sure, but it is difficult to imagine any shows he goes to in future measuring up to Springsteen and the E Street Band in terms of musicianship, the joy of playing in a band together and the sheer effort he puts in to make sure that the crowd have a great time.

Amazing gig, never really

Amazing gig, never really seen anything like it, not having been to a Boss gig before. This is cheesy, but the quote from the Russell Hammond frontman character in Almost Famous - "I connect, I look for the guy who isn't getting off, and I make him get off" - is apt, I can't think that anyone in the massive crowd would go home short-changed.
A nice touch to have Nils come on and play Flower of Scotland on an accordion to open things. After introducing Pink Cadillac, Bruce actually started playing Peter Gunn, which I would quite like to have heard jammed out!
Interesting what you say about age ranges Michael, there seemed to be loads of families there, surely this is the only act that would ensure three generations of a family all have an equally enjoyable experience!

Incredible Show!

I've seen Springsteen four times now and each time you feel you have witnessed something special.
The trick is that Bruce and the band make you believe that you have just seen one the best shows they have ever played. Has anybody seen a bad Bruce concert?
I was impressed with the age range at the concert. Does anybody know how many people were there? 50,000/60,000?
