Spotify Threesome

Occam's picture

Tell me this isn't a wonderful trio:

Anyone else got a 3 song taster of a band or artist they feel deserves a Massive spotlight.

how about this

I really enjoyed

the cave singer triplet. I've never heard of them before. They have really lovely epic production on their stuff. Very nice.

goosefat101 | 30 January 2010 - 9:53am

That was excellent

Punk folk with a pop twist indeed. Any idea what might have gone wrong with my link? It works on my PC.

0
Occam | 29 January 2010 - 9:56am

Nope, still can't see any tracks

just the title "Black Sabbath Taster". Let me guess what they could be:

Iron Man
Paranoid
The Wizard

Was I close? By the way, I have to say that, if I had to pick Sabbath fans out of the throng at the Lamb last week, you would not have been high on the list. Books and covers eh?

Sid Williams | 29 January 2010 - 10:36am

it works fine on my

computer by the way

0
goosefat101 | 29 January 2010 - 10:55am

Not even close

I don't think I'd convert or surprise many with that little lot ;-)

Glad it works for goosefat; the list is:

Planet Caravan
It's Alright and
Spiral Architect

Utterly, utterly wonderful.

0
Occam | 29 January 2010 - 11:29am

of those 3,

all I get when I do a search is Spiral Architect - Live, but then only when I search on the song. When I search on Black Sabbath I get none of them listed - weird. Are you using paid version of Spotify?

0
Sid Williams | 29 January 2010 - 5:10pm

No, not at all

Weird. Spiral Architect from Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (the 70s Sgt Pepper imvho), It's Alright from the otherwise dismal Technical Ecstasy and Planet Caravan from Paranoid.

0
Occam | 29 January 2010 - 5:31pm

no, what is weird

is that they do not appear in MY Spotify.

Example, I type Technical Ecstasy into the search function and I get no results. Planet Caravan, just a couple of Pantera tracks. Spiral Architect, the live version from Reunion and yet, when I type Black Sabbath into search, Spiral Architect does not appear, although a couple of other Reunion tracks are listed.

Ergo, the three tracks you list are not available to me in Spotify for some strange reason.

I had to re-install Spotify last night when my .exe file could suddenly not be found.

Don't know what's going on but I blame the French!

Sid Williams | 29 January 2010 - 6:42pm

That is weird

Must be your Spotify then I guess. Wonder why that happens.

Here are my three Spotify Threesomes

I've tried to go for the more obscure songs to try and win people round, and I avoided the most obvious bands too. I did want to do one for the amazing band Hefner, but the songs I wanted were not there.

So here are 3 introductions to 3 different bands, that may also persuade sceptics (fingers crossed) and surprise connoisseurs (toes crossed). I'm not naming them here so people come to it fresh.

Loved the Bright Eyes

The others not my bag, but that went down a treat.

Guess nobody else is game - oh well...

0
Occam | 29 January 2010 - 4:18pm

wow!

that was the one I thought would go down the worst with Word readers. I guess I'm used to everyone dismissing him as Emo.

I've been enjoying the Black Sabbath tracks. It's good cos tho I'm a fan of Paranoid I've not really given Sabbath much time, I will be doing so now. Good choice of tracks I reckon.

I reckon this could be a slow burner and get more popular as the weekend comes along. I reckon short spotify playlists with interesting retraction's are the most fun to bandy about.

Remember that old/new/borrowed/blue thread started by David Hepworth, that was ace, bite sized enough to make you persevere, even when stuff isn't to your tastes.

I reckon the threesome idea has some potential...

If you book them they will come

great choices

really really nice. I have two of the albums but haven't really focused on those songs before. Baby We'll Be Fine really got me then. Maybe it's cos I'm feeling "So sorry for everything" at the moment!

0
goosefat101 | 29 January 2010 - 6:17pm

Now that's what I'm talking about

Excellent threesome. Album duly added to my Amazon wishlist. Thankee!

Ta muchly for that

Three bands that exactly fit the criteria - I've never really known where to start, other than the obvious stuff. Anyone got an equivalent for Hawkwind I wonder.

Update - LOVED the XTC and really didn't expect to (teenage aversion to Sgt Rock). Last Squeeze track good, but always find GT's voice a bit strained.

The Mountain Goats

i love love love the

mountain goats. Great choice.

goosefat101 | 29 January 2010 - 11:46pm

Lovely topic

Those Black Sabbath tracks are just *not* Sabbath, but of course they are!

The National. Who they then. New to me but not my cuppa. Ditto Mountain Goats but liked third track.

Squeeze, XTC & ELO - impossible to not love them. It's the law. Pity that a Ke$ha f**king ad has to spoil the mood.

Here's three of mine, obscure tracks 'n' all...

That Kesha ad

Bloody annoying isn't it. And bloody Roberta too. I'd have gladly paid my subscription for this month at least.

Jim White

http://open.spotify.com/user/backwards7/playlist/3oIjSP8NTvBgl7ntQhkObl

1. Still Waters
2. Static on the Radio
3. Plywood Superman (live)

MrRadio | 30 January 2010 - 10:03am

Beat me to it

on Supertramp - although I probably would have picked Crime, Fools Overture and From Now On. Loved the Hodgson track - I'd just presumed they were both shit apart, but clearly not.
