Spotify Playlists - if you build it they will come

Hube's picture

Before I actually do something radical like go out and get myself a life, it would be great to have all the playlists easily accessible from one jumping off point. I don't know whether the website can have a dedicated page for these, where the links will always be just a click away for future use, not just disappearing as new topic pages take precedence.
Always looking for new music, it would be great to have playlists for specifc moods, times of day. Nerding about, I've put one track in each of these first three in the hope that readers will grow them - if you build it, they will come:

Classical for beginners

Here's a classical for beginners one I started - and I would love to hear other people's offerings. It's got to be easy accessible hummable stuff to give us a bit of a taste for a particular composer. And no massive entire operas or concertos, just the best arias and preludes or whatever (apologies if I've got the lingo wrong, I don't have a clue what I'm talking about).

PS when you say Sunday morning, do you mean 'Sunday love songs', 'lie-in with coffee and Observer review section', 'get up and mow the lawn' or Jesus?

Definitely

lie in with coffee and Observer review section. Maybe a bacon sandwich a little later on, a whisky while getting the lunch ready. And the sun is always shining. Exactly that.

I think Spotify is great

but it may become somewhat blog limiting. Lets have an embargo on blogs about spotify playlists for a week or 2, apart from anyone commenting on all the fab and weird ones on the covers one. You know this is in all our best interests and, anyway, Mrs Path says she will smash the computer if I spend any more time playing amateur DJs. Of course, if this is a terrible suggestion, I'll just have to keep playing........

I was thinking that too...

...while blithely contributing to the Sunday Spotify takeover myself.

Can we not just maintain a 'Spotify' thread on the front page for people to 'advertise' their playlists in individual replies, thus confining all Spotify stuff to one easily accessible place?

Fraser?

I'll see how it goes

The excitement may die down of its own accord.

In a nutshell...

That's really what I was suggesting at the top of the page. Somewhere for playlists to be picked at or dumped and ignored at leisure. Perhaps there could be a links page or tab like there is for downloads, podcasts etc.

Good call

I like that idea.

Retropath2 | 9 February 2009 - 6:50pm

Enough already...

If a computer was designed to play music it would have come with a turntable and stylus. Right, kids?

Gareth | 9 February 2009 - 6:08pm

But

mine does play music. Probably why I no longer have a life ...

Hube | 9 February 2009 - 10:32pm

Those newfangled

turntables'll never catch on. Give me a trusty old wax cylinder any day.

Paul Vincent | 10 February 2009 - 1:02am

Wax cyclinders are the devils work

I prefer to employ a minstrel to stand in the corner of my front room and sing me the latest ballads.
