Spontaneous Mingle - Camden, TONIGHT!!!!
Posted by Twangothan on 30 November 2011 - 2:11pm.
Vulpes Vulpes, Lucky Tyler and I are going to see Cressida at Camden Underworld on Friday, and are meeting at the Lyttelton Arms from 5 ish for a pre gig shandy. Anyone in the area who'd like an end of week/start weekend pint would be very welcome.

Hope to see some familiar and new faces there. You could do worse than come to the gig!

Cressida
Are they named after a Toyota or was the Toyota named after the band?
*coughs*
Trojan War? Shakespeare? No?
I don't mind
feigning ignorance for a gag. I just wish, with hindsight, it was a funny one.
The spin-off band
were called Yaris.
You never know
I'll try and drop in and say hi. What time will you be there until?
Not sure
It's doors at 7 but I doubt much happens before 8. I'm sure we'll be there till 7.30. I'd rather be drinking in a pub than a Camden night club. Be lovely to see you. x
It's 5 ish now.
Hannah and I have coordinated diaries. See you there in half an hour!
Ill be kicking my heels
in London tomorrow.
Sounds better than the rush hour train home.
Great
See you there! See below for joining instructions.
Oddly enough
...I will be in need of some company around that time tomorrow evening in the very borough of Camden, and had looked up the Lyttleton as a venue as I am led to believe they serve Sierra Nevada Pale Ale aka Mat's current beverage of choice.
Is there room for a new person between 5.30- 6.30ish?
You betcha
Look forward to seeing you there. We'll be the slim handsome ones with full heads of hair and stylish moderne outfits. Will have something Wordy on display.
Will it be ok if
.. you slim handsome and hirsute(even the ladies) folk are made to look better by a sorry looking, saggy old cloth cat of a bloke?
If I pop by tomorrow
Don't mention my beard. I'm a bit touchy about it.
(btw are you also baggy and a bit loose at the seams?)
Ooh
do drop by, Hannah. I'll probably be there from 5ish.
(So for later arrivals, I'll be the one on the floor.)
5ish
Hmm, frantically recalibrates plan, starts worrying about liver...see you then HH, look for Word Nerd badge!
Oh don't go to all that trouble
on my account.
I'm sure a badge won't be necessary.
*smiles sweetly*
OK, OK
It's permenantly installed on my manky denim jacket anyway!!
I'll try to hold my own council on it
..and a bit baggy and loose at the seams, yes.
See you tomorrow
I'll be the worried looking one
appearing slightly alarmed at being in that London after dark on a Friday evening.
Looking forward to meeting up (finally!) with a few kindred spirits.
Straw
Vulpes will be the one in tweeds chewing a straw. Bless.
I need a way to identify
I need a way to identify people... I'm outside smoking at present...is anyone there?
Bloody marvellous to meet you all last night.
You should have come to the gig though. You really should have come to the gig. Un. Fucking. Believable. Still grinning, I've got the Hammond parts whirling around my frontal lobes, and that's after a stiff single malt back at Twangs around midnight, a good night's sleep and a long drive home.
Gosh
it's finished already?
Thought you'd still be there.
(And it was great to meet up}
Great to meet you too, Vulpes.
I love putting faces to noms de blog - I only wish we'd had a bit longer to chat. Also great to meet Mat for the first time - Mat, it'd be great to see you at the Jan mingle. And obviously lovely to see the more familiar faces too. :-)
Tip top
Great to see everyone, and Vulpsy is right, the gig was completely brilliant.
Other than a twat behind me who kept talking, so I went up to him and said "could you keep it down please, all we can hear is you talking"....two minutes later he poked me in the back and said "try turning up your hearing aid". I gave him a withering look and ignored him whilst in Billy Liar land I knee dropped him and made him do the chicken. Incredibly when the lights came up he was wearing a "Cresseda - Scotland" tee shirt - he's come all the way down to London to talk all the way through the gig. Wanker.
I had a fuckwit like that in front of me
at a Guillemots concert a couple of years ago. Big fucker wandered in just as the band were staring, stood about 2 feet infront of me and started talking. I decided to use acoustics as my weapon and, at the end of the first song raised my hands to applaud, using cupped hands. Try it.......produces a wonderful loud booming noise which was about 6 inches from his right ear.
He wasn't happy, we had a few muttered words but he shut up and moved to one side.
It was ace to meet
people...despite me wandering around the pub for the best part of 20 minutes. I hope everyone had a lovely time afterwards.
I am certainly putting thought into the Jan Mingle. I suspect it may come a little too soon before January's payday, but assuming I have spare funds available, I'll be there.
I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you all. Sorry for the swift exit, my friends turned up and informed me we were late for another "appointment" aka meeting a friend in a pub in Chalk Farm. If the state of my head was anything to go by on Saturday morning, it was a good night.
I hope the steak-eaters enjoyed their night out, it looks the gig-goers did.
Certainly did.
It was cow heaven. Literally.
