Sparky's dream over

Mark Hughes sacked as Man City manager and Roberto Mancini appointed as replacement. Quite a surprise, I feel, the timing of it anyway.

It does beggar belief

City are 6th in the table. They have spent a lot of money on new players but it still takes time to build a team. Some reports say that Mancini is only there until the end of the season. So come August City will start from scratch again.
The ghost of Peter Swales still holds sway over the Sky Blues.

And that is a Facht.....

You can always rely on the comedy side of Manchester for a bit of Xmas cheer.

My only complaint is that Mark Hughes has vered away from his original orders, the same orders given & carried out by the letter by Steve Coppell....

In a season where

all the "Top 4" are finding different ways to implode, Chelseas dodgy keeper, Utds missing back four, Arsenals missing centre forward and Liverpools Spanish numpty City are missing atruly golden opportunity. Hughes was spoilt by riches and unable to select a regular 11, he obviously hadn't even worked out a system. My family of Fulham fans are dreading Mr Hodgson getting the call from Mersey or Manchester.

No danger

No disrespect to Roy, who is doing an excellent job for you, but City's owners want a bright shiny thing while Roy is a bit too dour for them. For the same reason I'm not worried about them trying to poach our man, David Moyes.
They've got Mancini pro tem. They wanted Hiddinck. Failing that they want a Mourinho or some other manager who garners lots of headlines. A level of success is necessary, but the generation of lots of publicity is another factor they can't live without.

Looks like

to me that they are appointing Mancini until the end of the season until Mourinho will be available.

I see trouble ahead....

A truly ridiculous decision

If City's board/owners hadn't made themselves look silly enough with last year's Kaka fiasco then this should do the trick.

Perhaps someone can post a link to last year's piece in The Guardian by Marina Hyde about Gary Cook (I'm writing this on the iPod and can't find it).

Garry Cook

is a *bad word sniiiiip*. Makes Hughes sell Dunne because he is not a "big name" as club captain, and the defence implodes. He is an embarrassment to football. Meanwhile Villa's back 4 go from strength to strength.

Being A City Fan

I would have given Hughes to the end of the season and reviewed it then. I can see why the owners want a change though due to our comedy defending,Dunne has improved since he left City he needed a new challenge.

I am pleased for Villa and Spurs both proper footballing teams but in the long run Citys investment will bear fruit and I can see us long term in the top 4 probably at the expense of Liverpool.

As for Manchini maybe he can sort out the back four and bring us the stabilty needed in the short term, the top four is still possible this season.

Well...

Brian Marwood is now director of football and we all know what happens to English clubs when they decide to go down the director of football/coach route, viz Newcastle, Portsmouth etc.

Overrated Football players

Didier Drogba.I'm sorry but I just don't get it.The fuss! I felt the same way with Emile Heskey. Lumbering and lucky.

Comparing

Drogba and Heskey is like comparing Dylan and Donovan!

Johan | 21 December 2009 - 8:46pm

Are you Arsene Wenger?

Not denigrating Heskey - he's a very useful player who many top managers have selected, but Drogba is on a different level. Toss up between him and Torres for best striker in the world right now, imo.

The thing that befuddles me is

that, given City's Board seem to want success right now, they've picked a manager with no Premiership experience and a man who you'd think would be eminently suited to, well, Italian football.

That said, the appointment of Brian Kidd is a positive.

Indeed.

When push comes to shove, harmonic guitar-based pop is my favourite musical form ever ever ever, and that song is a fine example.

My favourite is this, however, and I *heart* this video:
