Songs You Never Tire Of

SoundMind's picture

Come one and all and name and/or embed the songs you can hear over and over again, whether in their original incarnations, or live, covers, and the like. I'll start with Big Star's Thirteen, rendered even more poignantly in one of Alex Chilton's final performances.

(The Vimeo clip appears to start on its own, so I've re-entered as a link)

Pretty much the entire

repertory from the Temptations is indestructible.
I've even managed to highly enjoy hearing those songs sung by a motley crew of washed up artists in a Christmas cabaret thingy in a big hall full of drunk people who couldn't care less.
And I wasn't even drunk myself.

Ain't no fan, or nuffink, but...

I'm afraid the clip wigs out at about halfway through and goes out of sync - but, here's the one I never seem to tire of.

0
Vorgongod | 5 August 2011 - 3:59pm

Cheers

Although on the day I would probably bottle out and add Vaughn William's "Lark Ascending" to look intelligent.

0
daddyclark | 5 August 2011 - 9:13pm

And another classic...

'Throw Your Arms Around Me'

0
PT | 5 August 2011 - 5:15pm

DAAS

The version I first heard, and love still, is by the Doug Anthony Allstars. If you have not heard of them - this is not even slightly representative of their act in general (very crude and very funny comedy trio). More representative would be their immortal "I fuck Dogs".

1
paulwright | 5 August 2011 - 6:16pm

Saw them live

"Any Christians in the audience?......Stone the baaaaastards"

One of the best nights out.

0
sitheref2409 | 6 August 2011 - 12:26am

Never tire of this

It makes my day better just by existing and hearing it brings me enormous joy...

0
Em | 5 August 2011 - 5:47pm

These shuffle

back into my life about every month or so, and every time they do they sounds as fresh and delightful as ever. I think it's because they're so unlike the rest of the music I carry around with me.

0
Pax Romana | 5 August 2011 - 6:03pm

Loads

But this one is definitely the winner for me:

Thin Lizzy - Fools Gold

I like the guitarring after about 2:10 in particular

0
Jed Clampett | 5 August 2011 - 11:09pm

and while we are at it

Little Girl In Bloom. I think this is one or both of Gary Moore/Brian Robertson

0
Jed Clampett | 5 August 2011 - 11:16pm

One which I never tire of hearing...

The guitar solo is one of those "implode with joy" moments...
