Good to have the talened man back. He's had a new album ready for quite a wee while now but for one issue or another including label problems, it's been predictably held back.

What's your favourite Mick Head contribution? The Pale Fountains, Shack, The Strands?

The Magical World Of The Strands is a stunning album. As is Here's Tom...

Hopefully this opens the door to us getting see Mick around a lot more.

Great news

Was only talking about Shack and Michael Head with RichieRichie on Saturday night before HMHB.

Sadly I am (yet again) going to miss out on seeing the man live, but it's good to know he's fit and well enough to play and record.

Gerrin there la!

It has to be the Fountains

I will always hold a place in my heart for Pacific Street, particularly Abergele Next Time.

At the same time, I don't think there are many opening Side One combinations much better than Nathalie's Party and Comedy off Shack's HMS Fable.

Yes, great to have him back.

It's Only Hard

I've always been fond of It's Only Hard from the second Paleys album, but when they performed it live at their 2008 reunion show in Liverpool, Mick messed it up.

Cheers Mick la!

Anyway, here's one from the same album.

too many to mention..

both paleys albums, Shack's Waterpistol, HMS Fable and Here's Tom with the weather are standouts with honorable mentions to Zilch, Miles and Gil and the strands. Zilch would've been a classic if it had been produced like Waterpistol.
The man's a legend and both the Head brothers are genuinely nice blokes.

Ah, to be there

Seeing this reminds me of reading the small ads at the back of the NME, just imagining stumbling into an intimate show of one of my favourites, who'd be as likely to appear here on the Canadian East Coast as a giraffe might be. Perhaps I can console myself (and thank mr_omnibus for pointing me toward shacknet) with the generous supply of free downloads.

Shack's HMS Fable for me...

The Pale Fountains for Mrs Retro who saw them in Japan back in the day. The Strands album is superb.

Shack have alternately been the most brilliant live band or the most disappointingly shambolic, like The La's you wonder just how great they could have been if they'd just, well pulled their fingers out a bit!

Delighted for him...

A truly brilliant songwriter imo.

Terrible news

Mick turned up to the gig, at an alcohol recovery centre, very drunk and got worse as the day went on.
After an emotional reunion with Shack, who were there to help through a poor performance, he fell of the stage and was taken to hospital with a cut head.

Very sad news.
