Entertainment For Lively Minds
So who among us has MJ tickets then?
Despite all that's been said on here, who among us has obtained Michael Jackson tickets then?
I've gained considerable brownie points from my better half by capturing a couple this morning. (I dare say I have lost considerable brownie points on this forum too!)
The experience was interesting. I pre registered and received an e-mail this morning saying that there had been a massive demand and that I was on a waiting list for some expected new shows. It advised that I keep a close eye on e-mail throughout the day. Sure enough at around 11 this morning I was sent a code which I should enter on the Ticket master site.
Did this and selected one of the two new dates available at that time. All appeared to be standard ticket master procedure until a screen popped up saying that there was a fifteen minute wait.
Eventually I was offered three seats but was advised that I only had two minutes to complete the form. This went on through a few screens. I was kind of amazed that it all went through in the end.
Anyway, all I need now is to decide how to spend my brownie points. Any clean suggestions welcome!

Sounds like Ticketmaster really want you to grovel at their feet
It sounds like a mad power trip they're on where they might grant you tickets if you amuse them enough.
Same experience
But I tried to book a ticket for the first night initially, and after the 15 minute thing Ticketmaster told me they were sold out. So I chose one of the new dates, and after some odd time travel (3 minutes to go, then 11, then 12, then 7, then 15, then 2) I bought a pair of tickets.
I suspect it'll be just awful, but completely riveting.
If you don't mind me asking...
how much did you have to cough up?
£75 plus the uncomfortable £9 booking fee (per ticket!)
They also had tickets for £50. Not too bad considering the price of Madonna tickets.
Actually
that's not too bad. Almost a quarter of the price of the Astral Weeks tickets.
£9 booking fee. Per ticket.
Did they forget this element of the cost when they priced up the ticket? Could you buy them and avoid the fee? Appalling and there should be a law against this kind of stuff etc.....
I've declined
Pre-registered, received a text this afternoon. Went through the website rigmarole, but it appeared that they only had the 'cheap' £65 tickets left on the last announced dates. At that price, plus £8 booking fee, plus postage costs, I'm looking at £75 approx each for tickets waaaaaaay up in the ether. Sorry, but I couldn't justify it, especially with travel, accommodation etc. banged on. When the time gets nearer, I may start to regret it, but to be honest I can't imagine him doing 10 dates, never mind 24, so the chances are that he won't even get to the date I have spurned.
Other chances are, of course, that TicketBastard will trickle out more tickets in the days and weeks prior to the concerts and tempt us all over again.
There was a debate on Radio 2 the other lunchtime
about whether it was appropriate to take young children to these dates given the, unproven, allegations against Michael Jackson. It seemed to be whether it was morally right or not. All seemed to agree that Gary Glitter was in the definte "no" box but there was a mixed response on this one.
I don't have children so it's not an issue I have to face. I'm also not that keen on his music so haven't bothered to get tockets.
But would you not go to a concert because the performer is a bit, well, weird?
Interesting one.
It is interesting
I remember having tickets for one of the Roxy Music reunion shows. Then I discovered Ferry's support for foxhunting and heard about his son's odious behaviour. Being a former hunt sab (only former because I'm just too old to keep up these days)I decided not to go to the gig. I know it's a different situation with Jacko, as Ferry hasn't done anything wrong, per se, I just objected strongly to his views. But I certainly do agree that the views and behaviour of an artist can have an impact on whether you choose to attend their shows.
Nor have I purchased any tickets!
Doh!
Must check typing better in future....
A pointless debate...
if we all boycotted gigs because of unsavory rumours about musicians then there would be a hell of a lot of empty concert halls...
returns aplenty....
You do realise, come the time of the shows, Jacko will be "too ill" to play, meaning a load of refunds, minus all your £9 booking fees.... a nice easy half a million...
or something
Plus, I doubt he'll be doing my favourites "Ghosts" and "They Don't Care About Us".
Altogether now.... "eeeheee! chamone!"
I won't be attending in case you didn't guess...
They Don't Care About Us
When MJ says 'us' - who does he mean?
£75 plus booking fee!!
You could get to see Jesus for that. Oh sorry, I forgot.
Can't believe anyone has fallen for the hype. The guy is a drongo who hasnt done anything worthwhile for 20 years.
But I Imagine the show will be good...
...my wife got a ticket alert asking if we wanted Bob Dylan tickets - she asked me cos it was my birthday - I declined as I've heard so many conflicting stories about him live - don't want it to be a disappointment.
I got four at the third time of trying
My two daughters weren't impressed when I suggested they might like to come with my wife and myself...
ViaGoGo
I thought it was my imagination but someone was saying on the radio this morning that a whole stack of tickets are being sold by ViaGoGo. Checked it out and they are apparently the official partner to the tour with prices starting at £135. Not sure how this works and yes I know this is free market economics but I do hear a ring of exploitation here?
Andre and Steffi
Agassi and Graf are significant investors in Viagogo, fact fans...

Seems to becoming common practice now with the promoters and ticket agencies becoming further and further entwined
Hope they choke on their Jesus Juice
Oh and the alleged setlist is here:

He's up to 37 dates now it seems
Now available on
Lastminute.com which is where they normally sell off surplus hotel rooms and holidays. Just(!)£75 - or £930 for a four star experience or £950 for a five star one. I can only speculate what you get for the extra £20 as I can't be bothered to click on the link.
