should I stay or should I go?

I get lots of regular email updates for gigs etc.
Here's one I've just recieved. the Gig its self is free to get in and there are 4 bands on, the blurb for one of the bands worries me somewhat: what do people think?

Should I wander along for the price of some beer and my oyster card ?

or does a take away and series 6 of the West Wing seem a better option?
here's the blurb it's the words "installations" and "off-kilter charm" that worry me most!

" Hissing at Swans call themselves "a ramshakle ukelele and 80's keyboard demo collective from Essex/East London" - which means they're a female duo in thrall to Magnetic Fields and Moldy Peaches who approach gigs as if they're art installations. Expect homemade films and lots of off-kilter charm"

Go.

Girl duo & Uke's outweigh homemade films and art installations. And take away's are bad for you.

And submit your review for the Jack Daniels comp if it's still open.

Infallible indicator

Band who can't spell ukulele can't play ukulele.

David Hepworth | 22 September 2008 - 6:26pm

but isn't

ukulele bloody difficult to spell. I can't think of a 7 letter word that's harder.

ukulele

It's shorthand for 'radically non-conformist' isn't it? Everyone's at it.

looks like a 50-50 split

what's a guy to do?

Ahem

According to spoonfed.co.uk they do know how to spell ukulele so worry not on that front - something must have got lost in transcription. That's the good news.

The other news is that they have a couple of free downloads on last.fm. Try if you can to imagine a sort of twee Ladytron (and I'm not hearing much uke, either) ...

Chris, I want to apologise for my earlier advice and I now feel rather responsible for your evening's entertainment. I'll bring the Grand Theft Auto 4 round if you like.

Who's the headline act, anyway?

Kevin Woolard | 22 September 2008 - 10:25pm

kevin thanks for your research

the headliners are "a lounge-gaze-krautpop band" nurse the screens....

Chris G | 22 September 2008 - 11:31pm

Surely

that belongs on the "Genre-core" thread?

A demo collective?

Sounds good to me.
