Shall we sing a song for you?

Reno Dakota's picture

In an attempt to bring a little cheer to Victoria Park on matchdays, the heirarchy at Hartlepool United have decided that each player will get their own tune played over the tannoy when they score.

We already have "I Feel Good" for when James Brown scores (made popular by Sir Jeff Of Stelling) and the theme to "The Sweeney" when Anthony Sweeney slots one in the back of the onion bag. I'm hoping that there is a bag-pipe version when Leon McSweeney pops up with a 25 yard-drive...

As for the others, well, I'm struggling. So I thought I'd get the Word massive (prefer the term 'collective' myself, but never mind...) to help.

Please could you come up with your suggestions for the following players?:

Neil Austin
Sam Collins
Ritchie Humphreys
Garry Liddle
Ben Clark
Ritchie Jones
Denis Behan
Adam Boyd
Andy Monkhouse
Johnny Rowell
David Foley
Michael Mackay
Jon-Andre Friedriksen
Alan Power
Matty Tymon
Peter Hartley

EDIT

New signing!

Jon-Andre Friedrikson

Surely you use La Donna e mobile for him?

Let it be for Denis Behan...
"Denis B, Denis B
Denis B Denis B
Denis Denis Behan
Denis B"

Well...

Snap's "I got the Power" when yer man Power scores

err...

"Watch out, there's a Humphrey about" (if there indeed is such a song) when Richie H scores....

..all a bit 'nu-fan' though, isn't it, all this?

We have none of this nonsense at Goodison when a goal is scored.

Not that that's such a common occurrence anyway...

Power of Love

by Jennifer Rush, surely.

Garry Liddle

Ooh, Ah, Just a LIDDLE Bit by Gina G.

0
Fraser Lewry | 5 August 2009 - 1:34pm

Didn't have you pegged...

... as a fan of Eurovision, Fraser?

Each to their own, I suppose!

Reno Dakota | 5 August 2009 - 3:35pm

Possibly

More of a fan of Gina G?

Six Dog | 5 August 2009 - 4:38pm

Ritchie Jones

to the tune of the Vapors' Jimmie Jones

Rowell, Rowell, Row your boat gently down the stream...

Five-Centres | 5 August 2009 - 1:46pm

Peter Hartley

could have something by the Jam.

Andy Monkhouse should surely have the exciting brassy theme music to "Bob's Full House" in honour of his surname - it's on Youtube if you can't remember it

"Monky"

should surely be serenaded by the Funky Gibbon?

Some suggestions

Neil Austin - Theme from Six Million Dollar Man
Sam Collins - the drum roll from 'In The Air Tonight'
Ritchie Humphreys - Theme from Are You Being Served, with a crowd response of 'I'm free!'
Gary Liddle - 'Li(dd)le Arrows' by Leapy Lee
Ben Clark - 'Last Train To Clarksville' by The Monkees
Ritchie Jones - 'Casey Jones' or 'Janie Jones'
Denis Behan - 'Denis' by Blondie
Johnny Rowell - 'Johnny Johnny' by Prefab Sprout
David Foley - 'Soley Soley' by Middle Of The Road, suitably adapted

Jon-Andre Friedriksen - 'There Is Nothing Like A Da(n)e'
Alan Power - 'Power To The People' or 'Power To All Our Friends'
Matty Tymon - 'Time On My Side' by The Stones
Peter Hartley - 'Jammin' by Bob Marley

And of course if Neil and Alan combine for a goal, it has to be...the Theme from Austin Powers.

Round of applause

Nice ideas, Mikhail.

I particularly like the idea of 4,500 northerners chanting "I'm Free!" should Hartlepool United's Player Of The Century score.

I also like the one for Mr. Friedriksen, but sadly our foreign friend is Norwegian... (you were not to know)

You're my king and I'm in heaven every time I look at you

Denis Behan - Blondie - Denis Denis.

"Killer" by Adamski might be a nice touch anytime Adam Boyd makes his way into the area and puts one away.
