Shall I go the Cornbury festival next year or the Cornbury festival?
Posted by pedr0 on 10 December 2010 - 1:46pm.
Perhaps I could cycle from one site to the other between sets.

two words
Paul Simon. Or indeed, "never again".
They still owe the vertically challenged one
£38,000!!
Christ if Mr Simon has the nerve to ask for the cash I'll ask him why he was so shit and thought it a good idea to change the tune to Mrs Robinson so we couldn't sing along!!
I've enjoyed the Cornbury festivals over the years.
Was this the true reason The Word pulled out?
10 mins
I had an enjoyable 10 mins at the Readers' Awards re-hating Paul Simon's set with Mark Ellen for Kate Mossman's benefit. Drop, drop.
I saw him not long before Cornbury
at Wembley and it was ace but he just pissed it all away. And as for blaming the curfew for the short set when he was on at least an hour late.....
What made it worse
was his bloated band with multiple keyboard players, drummers, percussionists etc and songs from his musical. Whilst I wouldn't expect him to play the golden oldies this was a festival not the Paul Simon faithful, and when he did "Sounds of Silence" with an acoustic guitar it was magic. Fleetingly.
Shame
The last two Cornbury's have been my first festival going experiences. I've really enjoyed:
1. The scale of the event
2. The child-friendliness of the event (not unconnected to 1 above)
3. Three nights of camping is pretty much right - not sure I'd want to do more
4. The mix of artists has been OK. I missed Paul Simon, phew! I missed Crowded House, booo! But I got to see the Fisherman's Friends, yahoo!
5. The tea tent run by parents at the local primary school was great.
I note that Cornbury at Great Tew is to be three days, which puts me off a bit given the need to take the kids out of school if we go. I wonder which of the bits I liked will stick with which version of the event?
Agree
Before the tempest started it was great. Mind you the wading up hill through the river of mud was no fun at all. Dancing to The Beat with small boy on shoulders was great fun.
